Update needed on Janakpur line under reconstruction
[edit]The BBC Four TV documentary India's Frontier Railways: Episode 2: The Last Train in Nepal first shown 19 March 2015, stated at the end of the programme that "the Janakpur to Jaynagar line finally closed in 2014. No decision has been made on the fate of its former employees, and the new broad-gauge line is scheduled to open in 2017."

More than one article testifies that work has progressed rapidly on the Indian side, but further information is needed about what is happening on the Nepal side: Answer to question "Is there any train from Nepal to India" on Quora.com 16 Sep 2014 --PeterR2 (talk) 11:36, 27 March 2015 (UTC)
The entire track from Jaynagar to Janakpur has been converted to broad gauge in October 2018 and is operational. The line is also being further extended to Bardibas. Please see this link -- Vatsmaxed (talk) 11:28, 1 November 2018 (UTC)
