Wrong info on the Nepal Communist League?
[edit]- I have managed to find NO INFORMATION that confirms that the NCL was a member of the ULF in 1990. On the contrary, 7 well known parties are listed, and the ULF is not listed.
What is the factual basis of this claim?
- Neither have I been able to find ANY info claiming that the NCL was founded in 1946, nor ANY informations of its activities before 1990.
What is the factual basis of this claim?

- In fact, it seems that Shambu Ram Shresta was a founding member of the CPN from 1949. He was a member of the left front led by Baburam Bhattarai in 1999, and his Communist League apparently was formed in 1990 (im not totally sure of the last.)
- Broadly wrong info, it seems! togrim, 2006-05-27
Corrected 3 errors (well, in fact 4) in the article
[edit]1) I can find no factual base for the NCL being founded in 1947. As Shambu Ram Shresta was a FOUNDING member of the CPN in 1949, I find this absolutely improbable. Neither can this fact be googled. I dont know when the NCL was founded, but I suspect it was during the late 80s (S R Sresta was toghether with Mohan Bikram Singh in 1972 and in Baburam Bhattarais United National People's Movement in 1990.)
So I cut out this eroneous founding date.
2) Shambu Ram (or Shamburam) SHRESTA, not Shestra (an error made before in connection with CPN founder Pushpa Lal Shresta). Shresta is a personal name of newari origin.
I corrected the name.
3) I can frind NO evidence that the NCL was in the United Left Front during 1990.
The list of 7 member parties at the time allways includes the same (other) cps (NKP(ML) NKP(M) NKP (Mandahar) NKP(Varma) NKP((Amatya)) NKP (4th convention) NMKP).
No PLACE for the NCL in the ULF in the lists of the main history books written about the Jana Andolan 1990. SO IM SURE THIS IS WRONG!
What scant evidence I have from litterature, is that SR SHRESTA was in Bhattarai/Prachandas United National People's Movement. However, I got no absolutely sure information about the name of his organisation at the time. (I guess it was the NCL, but I dont use guesswork in Wikipedia.)
So I cut out this wrong ULF information.
4) By the way, the formulation I cut was this:
- quote -
NCL was a part of the United Left Front during the 1989-1990 uprising.
- end of quote -
As the uprising was proclaimed in january 1990 and its official start was on the 18th february, how could the NCL take part in it from 1989?
Well, as i cut the whole prhase, we got rid of that error too.

Clarification
[edit]There seems to have been a confusion of two group with the same name. There was a NCL founded in 1946, but the Shamburam faction was a completly different one with no direct link. I'm creating a separate article for the 1946-org, at Nepal Lal Communist Party. --Soman 15:07, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
