See Also- Left-handed Issues

The "left-handed issues article" infers a parody characterization of Tantra in that all the commentary, insinuation and pseudo-clever word play has relevancy only to a narrow sect of (left-hand) Vamacara (Vamachara) Tantra- certainly not encyclopedic material. Even if there were any validity to the notion that this is brilliantly funny- there is no demonstration of exactness in regards to the subject of Tantra and therefore has absolutly no legitimacy as an extended link in the Neotantra article- which does not cite "humor" as an "analogous concept". Move of unreferenced content to talk page

Namaste. Wikipedia:Verifiability states that:

The burden of evidence lies with the editor who adds or restores material. Any material that is challenged or likely to be challenged needs a reliable source, which should be cited in the article. If an article topic has no reliable, third-party sources, Wikipedia should not have an article on it.

Since there are no citations at all in the article, I am moving the following portion to the talk page pending any further work someone may want to do on sources.

"Related concepts": Meanwhile, both Tantric and Neotantric concepts aside, there is a growing body of accounts that suggest sexual ecstasy experienced by individuals with no spiritual agenda may trigger a range of transcendent episodes as psychologist Dr. Jenny Wade describes in her book, Transcendent Sex. Although rare, there are contemporary accounts where ecstatic orgasm is one of a variety of peak experiences that have spontaneously intiated an unintentional supreme transcendence that compares to that described by Advaita mystics as Nirvikalpa Samadhi. Samadhi-like experience have also arisen spontaneously in individuals under the most ordinary circumstances including sleeping. Such extraordinary episodes manifesting so unconditionally and inexplicably relate to religious concepts of Christian Grace, the anugraha of Vedanta and anupaya of Hindu Saivism.

Reverting back to rewrite for a fresh start

I reverted the article back to the last edition, before I started extensive re-editing. Figure all editors can start afresh since there are too many issues raised over my contributions for me to find time to deal with- including the paragraph under Related Concepts refered to in the notice above.

The tagging and deletions by IPSOS of my edition of the Neotantra article brings into sharp focus an issue that wikipedia has emphasized in all its promotion and guidelines- editing is NOT an activity for anyone who is creative or original. Only content that is essentially cut and pasted from "authoritative" work is approved. So unless you're satisfied acting as an archival librarian (undoubtedly a noble and valuable occupation)- find a different venue where thinking is allowed. Although wikipedia is a treasure- the Neotantra article will continue to struggle as watchdogs like IPSOS are welcome to continue summarily deleting copy they find incompatible with a personal commitment to specific Hindu, Eroto-comatose lucidity and other Occult ideology. Non-orgasmic tantra?

From reading section 'Practicioners' I get the impression that neotantra is always about reaching the orgasm. Is that in the very definition of neotantra? Because otherwise I would like to mention that there are groups who teach and practice non-orgasmic tantra as well which I *think* would qualify as neotantric. Anton H 14:37, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Neo Etymology

Webster's - "Etymology: Greek, from neos new -- more at NEW 1 a : new : recent <Neogene> b : new and different period or form of". Neo-anything can refer to varying degrees of morphing of the original- from being unambiguously derived from the original as exampled in various art styles- neoclassical, neoimpressionism, neoexpressionism to highly dubious relationships such as the term neofascism as common usage for characterizing religions, politics or philosophies with which one disagrees viz: Religious_fascism The problem with defining neotantra is that there is no guideline for establishing to what degree it should or should not conform to the convoluted and diverse traditions of Tantra belief and practice. The definition is totally dependent on the perspective between the extremes of fundamentalist Hinduism and Buddhism and a new-age, integral spiritual approach which tends to bypass all but the single traditional concept- that sexual ecstasy is a path to attaining absolute desirelessness- the key to realization. To "push" references that are advocates of any degree of Tantra religious tradition is to bias the article in favor of the fundamentalist perspective and deny the open-ended reality of neotantric practitioners. The fundamental dilemma will persist until the neotantra article is taken outside the wikiproject Hinduism (or Buddhism) where it can evolve to reflect that reality. Neotantra and Future History

After doing some reading around on this very interesting subject i found that some people believe experiencing duality to help become one during sex is a very powerful meditative technique. The neo tantra brings up some very interesting point of views. As our society develops old ways like Tantra will evolve to better mesh with the current times social states. 6/16/2008 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.70.160.172 (talk) 00:09, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
