Proposed split

[edit]

There are at least two, possibly three, settlements in the Gambia called Nema Kunku, and this article has mixed up all of them.

  1. One in Kombo North district with 28,651 inhabitants in 2013, according to the census (p. 3). "it is found near Gambia's largest town Serekunda" refers to that place.
  2. One in Upper Niumi district with 1,099 inhabitants in 2013, according to the census (p. 26). The coordinates in this article refer to that place.
  3. One in Foni Jarrol district according to GeoNames. Google Maps calls it Jorem Nema Kunku but this name doesn't seem to be on other maps. It's unclear which, if any, settlement in the census it corresponds to. GeoNames is partly user-generated and therefore unreliable. I'm part of a project in Swedish-language Wikipedia cleaning up and sourcing Lsjbot articles, and we have generally concluded that GeoNames can't be trusted on its own. I think I have seen a similar analysis here, but I can't find it now.

At least the first two settlements seem notable and sourceable enough for separate articles, but I would appreciate input from others. // Essin (talk) 09:39, 5 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

On closer inspection, it seems that the coordinates as stated point to settlement 1, but (at least for me) the pushpin map in the infobox seems to point to settlement 2. This might be a template issue. // Essin (talk) 09:49, 5 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
