Sock-puppets
[edit]This article has mostly been written by sock-puppets of Saiers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.53.53.7 (talk) 05:56, 28 August 2018 (UTC)
i was confused by the language you used to describe this wiki page. At the time you made the remark most sentences on the page linked to very credible references such as radio interview with NPR, a video interview with CNBC and articles presented in the NY Times, Bloomberg, CNBC, Barrons, Fox News, Artnet, NY Observer UVA Magazine, Business insider, etc.Nelsonsaiers1 (talk) 20:23, 16 September 2021 (UTC)
Altered page
[edit]I saw many changes were made last night to this Wikipedia page including removing some information that i believe is relevant and true. Nelsonsaiers1 (talk) 16:06, 16 September 2021 (UTC) 1)One of the Founding Members of Charity:Water's Well: Here is one of their documents stating i was one of the handful of its founding members central donors. Its on page 41:
other references : https://www.widewalls.ch/artists/nelson-saiers
On a side note this article also speaks to tanks having been fired outside my house in Afghanistan which is a fact that was also removed due to no references.
Here is a video of me ringing the NYSE bell with Scott and his team: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsnQEaAh0Tc
There are handful more charities that I'm a major donor which are not included, but given that me being founding member of the Charity:water's Well is easily verifiable it seems it should be included.
2) HFWeekly Award: https://www.slideshare.net/kevinobrien123/hfmweek-2011-us-performance-awards On page 2 of this document, it shows a picture of my partner and me winning this award and stating our firm won it. The publisher of this document is the same organization that gave us this award. Isnt this a primary source? The company that gave us the award states we won the award in their periodical. Im not trying to split hairs but what is not mentioned is we were also finalists the following year. It seems important achievements that show my financial prowess which are clearly documented should be included as this was my career for over a decade.
Ill get to the other changes later. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nelsonsaiers1 (talk • contribs) 23:27, 15 September 2021 (UTC)
- @Nelsonsaiers1: Thanks for bringing up your concerns here on the talk page! In the future, please sign your talk page posts using four tildes

.For both points, the content was removed because they do not have sufficient coverage in secondary coverage of Nelson Saiers. See WP:PROPORTION for instance:
Also keep in mind that [[WP:VNOT|Verifiability does not guarantee inclusion}}. Even though you may appear as a major donor in the 2010 financial documents, that does not mean that it is sufficiently prominent and encyclopedic for inclusion in this Wikipedia article.Since you brought up the Widewalls biography though, the content there may warrant inclusion. I'm not familiar with Widewalls and it is probably suitable, but I will ask for extra input at the reliable sources noticeboard for its reliability since it does appear to be a commercial art auction site. In general, secondary reliable sources that are independent of the subject (i.e. not connected to you in any way) provides the best kind of support for inclusion. — MarkH21talk 07:07, 16 September 2021 (UTC)An article should not give undue weight to minor aspects of its subject, but should strive to treat each aspect with a weight proportional to its treatment in the body of reliable, published material on the subject.
- @MarkH21:Thank you for your response. Widewalls is mainly known as an art magazine. Widewalls has zero affiliation with me. If you search their auctions, you can see there is none of my artwork for auction and there are no past results. So while i presume they are an ethical group, if they were lacking in scruples they certainly wouldn't be trying to enhance my reputation. I honestly didnt know they even had art for sale there. Also any affiliation i have with Charity:water's Well is irrelevant to my art prices. If they said I was the next Picasso okay that should set off alarm bells and there might be a conflict of interest, but whether i donated to a charity isnt very important for my art prices. @MarkH21:I also have another reference from Bloomberg, but its an interview they did with me on their paid subscription weekly Bloomberg Brief which i don't think you can find archives of online. I do have an image of it which is linked here https://www.nelsonsaiers.com/bloombergbr . the mention is in the bottom right of the article. Sadly one of the other things mentioned is a concert to fight human trafficking which was canceled do some people's concerns with safety. A fear i believe was overblown, but everybody has their own comfort levels.
- On a different note, while i do like/appreciate/respect Kandinksy's art I would not consider him a particular inspiration so i think that line should be modified or deleted. When creating art, Im cognizant of the great artists of the past, and i do make references to them, but i wouldn't say he has a particularly prime spot in my artistic process. I think the writer at Artnet appreciated the fact i was attempting to use math as an inspiration to make art and she viewed it a bit analogously to kandinsky using music. This is why i believe she made the Kandinsky comment.

Sorry i left out part of a sentence on the above: When creating art, Im cognizant of the great artists of the past, and i do make references to them, but i wouldn't say he has a particularly prime spot in my artistic process. I think when viewing my art there are at least 10 famous artists one could potentially read from a particular work's aesthetic but kandinsky wouldnt be one of those.Nelsonsaiers1 (talk) 18:20, 17 September 2021 (UTC)
3) @MarkH21: why would "warhol of wall st" be removed? that title was given to me in an article that was written by the head art editor for the New York observer and was the featured article in the arts section of the printed version of their weekly in April 2016. The article was even referenced on the front page of the periodical. https://observer.com/2016/04/the-warhol-of-wall-street . The fact that i have this nickname now is even referenced by coindesk the most important site for bitcoin news: https://www.coindesk.com/markets/2018/10/09/theres-a-giant-bitcoin-rat-on-wall-street-and-its-staring-down-the-fed/

4)HFMWeekly award (reply from above): HFM weekly is a financial periodical. Other financial press outlets arent going to cover or feature one of their competitor's awards so it not being featured in other articles isnt surprising at all. I can tell you from my experience they often wont even cover many evente/stories that one of their competitors has already covered for fear of looking second class. Look this may sound self-deprecating, but news about our firm winning a financial award isnt the result of a presidential election or major supreme court verdict. It's announcement isnt gonna be on the home page of Yahoo or CNN, but if that is the standard 99.999% of Wikipedia pages should be deleted. It seems relevant to include as it shows that in a very short time the fund was already viewed as one of the best firms in its class. Whats also not included is in a couple years of me being there it grew from 100 million in aum to 600mm. I hope i don't sound petty and overly critical. I know people who edit Wikipedia are volunteering their time and have created a fantastic free resource and i appreciate that. Thank you for your time.Nelsonsaiers1 (talk) 14:45, 17 September 2021 (UTC)
5) Again not exactly certain how to use wikipedia but saw nelsonsaiers1 was "declared". This may be wrong place for me to state that publically but want full transparency so yes this user is Nelson Saiers. Im just trying to get this page to fairly and accurately represent me. Thank you for your patience and help. Nelsonsaiers1 (talk) 17:57, 17 September 2021 (UTC)
6) I actually deleted something about Bloomberg under education. I'm not sure what this is, but it makes no sense. I also deleted something added about charity water. again I don't even understand what it is saying. Nelsonsaiers1 (talk) 19:34, 17 September 2021 (UTC)
7) this is minor but in the sentence about the bitcoin inflatable rat. It should say "union protests" not just protests as unions are the ones who use the inflatable rats on NYC sidewalks during their protests.Nelsonsaiers1 (talk) 19:50, 17 September 2021 (UTC) If I was referencing regular protests the piece would likely have an aesthetic more like the imagery I used in my several day artistic protest at the Lincoln Memorial arguing for the increased inclusion of African-Americans in the tech world. There i displayed a mathematically based clean direct protest sign.Nelsonsaiers1 (talk) 00:52, 18 September 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Nelson, would you mind suggesting edits on this talk page, rather than editing the article directly, which is strongly discouraged? There’s a guide to making edit requests at WP:COIREQ. Best, Politanvm talk 15:46, 19 September 2021 (UTC)
- Apologies for the delay, but the answer to most questions is basically WP:WEIGHT. And going off of what Politanvm said and what I said previously about WP:COI, please stop editing this article directly. — MarkH21talk 15:02, 27 October 2021 (UTC)
8) @MarkH21: I attest Nsaiers1 is Nelson Saiers. First, I apologize for changing the language in my art section. i changed "that he had previously written" to "that his hedge fund team had previously written". We had a great team that played an important role in creating our hedge fund algorithm. When the big edit was made in September, the old language about snippets of code from his hedge algorithm was replaced to algos that he had written. i fear the new language may have obscured their contribution. Thank you for your time and be safe. Crazy times with this pandemic.Nsaiers1 (talk) 15:39, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
- 1) Please stop editing the article directly. 2) If the other blocked users that made edits here were also you, then you are violating Wikipedia’s policy against abusing multiple accounts (WP:SOCKPUPPET). Politanvm talk 16:43, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Politanvm: @MarkH21: I'm very sorry. i just wanted to make sure my team got their fair credit. i was not a solo person hedge fund. We had a good team of programmers/quants that helped build the algos for the fund. If i see things like this in the future can you please tell me what im supposed to do? Thank you both for your time and effort to make Wikipedia a great information source.Nsaiers1 (talk) 19:46, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
- Stop making new accounts and stop editing the article directly. You need to appeal your block at your oldest account, which appears to be Basq6587. See the guide to appealing blocks for more information on how to do that on your original account. — MarkH21talk 00:39, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
