Solitary Man 1966 and 1970 are two different versions

[edit]

This is an update of my own previous post with prior information included.

I have the 1970 version on a 45RPM, with the B Side 'The Time is Now'. on the "Bang" label. Info from the label: Around bottom edge of label: "Div of Web IV Music Inc. 1650 B'way N.Y. N.Y." Side A: 'Solitary Man' B-578 Master # W-10059 SP Time: 2:28. Side B: 'The Time is Now' B-578 Master # W-10140 SP Time: 3:10. Both sides: written by Neil Diamond, produced by Jeff Barry & Ellie Greenwich, Published by: Tallyrand Music, BMI.

The B-Sides mentioned in the "Joel Whitburn's Top Pop Singles 1955 - 2012 Edition Page: 237" and this Wikipedia 1960s and 1970s Single chart verify this as the 1970 version.

I believe the 1970 version is not a "reissue" as a reissue is a later release of the same version. I know of two different versions of this song.

1. There was a version with extra guitar riffs, female backing vocals and Neil Diamond's harmonizing vocals. B-Side unknown. Maybe this is the 1966 "Do It" B-Side version?

2. The 1970 version without the extras that I have with "The Time Is Now" as the B-Side.

Therefore, I believe the 1970 version is an (alternate version), like the 1970 "Shilo (alternate version".

"Soolaimon" word meaning, according to Word.

[edit]

Here's a funny: I put this song title through Word's Review/Language/Translation and it translated from Estonian as "Salt monoxide". I've heard of Carbon monoxide, but that's a new one on me. LOL. GRZ45RPM (talk) 22:38, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
