"[O]utspoken critic of Canada's system of multiculturalism"

[edit]

What precisely is the nature of his criticism? Masalai (talk) 08:13, 18 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This mostly refers to his book Selling Illusions. In general, he argues multiculturalism creates more division than it solves, and that it puts minorities into hyphenated boxes (eg. Chinese-Canadian, Jewish-Canadian, etc) instead of letting them just be Canadians. I don't find it especially compelling to be honest, mostly because it suffers from a lack of clarity. Since he's not clear on what things like multiculturalism, nation, ethnicity, culture, etc, are it's hard to know whether any of his criticisms have much weight. 2607:FEA8:620:4F2:C1BC:882:FA1A:594B (talk) 17:08, 19 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
