Could do with some critical comment

[edit]

This article needs some reference to criticisms of NW schemes; as it stands, it looks as though they're always totally supported and utterly uncontroversial, which isn't the case. Basically it looks just slightly too much like an advert rather than a properly neutral encyclopedia article. 86.132.138.224 02:22, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I've added a little bit of that under a revised section about Area & Ward Coordinators (formally Chief Coordinators). I agree that a balanced view is needed. Constructive criticism can lead to positive changes. :-) Gazzaf (talk) 20:55, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I added some minor criticism but it could still benefit from more substantial comments BUSHMAN1024 (talk) 20:10, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Contested move request

[edit]

The following request to move a page has been added to Wikipedia:Requested moves as an uncontroversial move, but this has been contested by one or more people. Any discussion on the issue should continue here. If a full request is not lodged within five days of this request being contested, the request will be removed from WP:RM.Dekimasuよ! 12:36, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The WP:RM listing has expired, but here is the relevant discussion, which can be applied to a full request if desired. Dekimasuよ! 12:38, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Community spirit

[edit]

I made the words "community spirit" link to a page, even though it doesn't exist yet, because I think it could be an interesting article if someone were to make it. I don't personally know what would go in there, but it seems like some people who frequent this page might, so it's a good place to put a red link like that and encourage someone to use it to expand on the meaning of that term, in my opinion. Good idea. I've added the missing page. It's a starter for 10.--Androidfan (talk) 21:12, 23 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

neighbourhood watch sign picture

[edit]

i feel that this article could be improved with a picture of one of those "this is a neighbourhood watch area" signs, the ones with the police man at the back and the young girl in the front and what can be assumed to be the parents on either side. I've had a look for a picture at Wikimedia commons, and couldn't find one. if someone can get that picture and add it to this article (aswell as Wikimedia commons) that'd be good.

Tone

[edit]

"Neighbourhood Watch in the United Kingdom is the largest voluntary crime prevention movement covering England and Wales with upwards of 2.3 million household members. The charity brings neighbors together to create strong, friendly and active communities in which crime can be tackled. Neighbourhood Watch Network is the umbrella organization supported by the Home Office to support Neighbourhood Watch groups and individuals across England and Wales.

Neighbourhood Watch groups work in partnership with the police, corporate companies with aligned values, voluntary organizations and individuals who want to improve their communities. Neighbourhood Watch aims to help people protect themselves and their properties and to reduce the fear of crime by means of improved home security, greater vigilance, accurate reporting of suspicious incidents and fostering a community spirit as well as tackling new forms of crime such as cybercrime. "

The tone of this is really off for a Wikipedia article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by James.94.freeman (talkcontribs) 11:30, 4 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
