Promotional
[edit]@InvadingInvader: Wondering, what parts of the article do you think are promotional (what phrases specifically)? BeanieFan11 (talk) 02:58, 27 December 2023 (UTC)
- Happy to help (and thanks again on the HEY improvements). Personally I think that you could avoid directly quoting the papers too much. Avoid wording such as "talented athlete" as this would serve to unduly promote the subject. Usage of "glory and fame" without attributing who said it directly in the text also seems to be a bit problematic.
- On a separate note, consider sectionalizing the biography and inserting a table of his wins/victories if possible. InvadingInvader (userpage, talk) 03:03, 27 December 2023 (UTC)
- I attributed all the quotes and removed the "talented" phrasing (I think the quotes I have are alright - since it seems 4/5 of the article are not quotes). I also added sections, but there wasn't much about tournaments participated in besides the Olympics, so I did not add a table. I'm removing the promotional tag but feel free to restore it and let me know if you think there's still issues. BeanieFan11 (talk) 23:57, 4 January 2024 (UTC)

- Added college alumni cat.
- Added Ethiopian athletics coaches cat.
- "Negussie was an athlete and was both a sprinter and football player" Is "was an athlete" needed?
- Removed.
- "being among the first 12 Ethiopian Olympians" What's that mean? Was 1956 the first Olympics with Ethiopians?
- Changed; 1956 was Ethiopia's first year at the Olympics.
- "last in his heat" Is there a link for that?
- Hmmm... I can't find one – thoughts?
- Does it say who gifted him an automobile?
- All the source says is "The current (1998) marathon record was made by Belayneh Dinsamo, a trainee of Coach Negussie. This long-standing record had earned Coach Negussie a prize of an automobile."
I think that's all. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 03:25, 30 September 2024 (UTC)

- I don't see anything for heat either. Hopefully someone creates Glossary of track and field terms. That's all. Nice work! ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 14:58, 30 September 2024 (UTC)

- ... that Negussie Roba was an Olympic sprinter who later coached Olympic gold marathon runners?

- Comment: Thought it a little interesting that a sprinter (short distance) would become one of the world's best marathon (long distance) coaches.
BeanieFan11 (talk) 23:05, 7 October 2024 (UTC).
- What makes this DYK-worthy? Many former athletes become coaches. (t · c) buidhe 23:53, 20 October 2024 (UTC)

– could try to develop an ALT though if that's not interesting enough. BeanieFan11 (talk) 00:09, 21 October 2024 (UTC)- There's no indication in the hook that Rob was a top coach, only that he coached top athletes. (t · c) buidhe 00:11, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
- I thought it was implied by developing Olympic gold medalists – but do you think it would be interesting enough if I clarified that? BeanieFan11 (talk) 00:13, 21 October 2024 (UTC)

- Hi BeanieFan11. This article, improved to GA status on the 30 September, is new enough, long enough, well-sourced, and copyvio-free. QPQ done and hooks short enough and cited. I think ALT1 is interesting enough. Best, Tenpop421 (talk) 16:16, 7 November 2024 (UTC)
