Nefarious: Christo-fascist propaganda"
[edit]Shouldn't the fact the film is being marketed as a horror movie but is in fact christian propaganda be included in the article? The producers admit it's basically a bait and switch ("subversive marketing") Media matters has quite a bit to add.
Horror Obsessive claims "Beware of Nefarious: Religious Propaganda Masquerading as a Horror Movie"

- How do you define "christo-fascist", or "fascist", for that matter? What about the movie promotes a totalitarian State, where the government combines with large businesses to help them control their markets and freeze out competition, and uses large mass movements and police to control every aspect of its citizens' lives? Does the movie promote the theme, "All within the state, nothing outside the State, nothing against the state", as Mussolini defined the movement he created? - This religious film is expanding into the genre of horror. The suggestion that this is not really a horror movie is ludicrous in view of the fact that it has the elements of horror. Ideological films have used horror as a vehicle before. "Get Out" comes to mind but there are others. Milesnfowler (talk) 20:04, 1 July 2023 (UTC)

Plot
[edit]Plot is said to be too long and detailed. I have rewritten the Plot and hope that others will find that I have done enough to warrant removing the label. Milesnfowler (talk) 20:05, 1 July 2023 (UTC)
Truth be told
[edit]Quite honestly, if you had read Dr. Peter Kreeft, Thomas Aquinas, or Augustine of Hippo in college or elsewhere, one would realize that the dialogue in Nefarious is spot-on with regard to the luminaries observations. Just because something comes from a Christian perspective, does not invalidate its points. To say otherwise is known as the genetic fallacy: i.e., if Albert Einstein had been a devout Nazi, that would not invalidate the truth of the relativity theory. Most if not all posts opposing this film are couched in either the genetic fallacy or begging the question by assuming certain "truths" to be true in their posits. I give the movie 10 out of 10. 66.84.118.25 (talk) 03:25, 12 August 2023 (UTC)
- I just watched it. Excellent, in my opinion. 2600:1700:8B41:5260:FDC6:3CEC:78B7:A83 (talk) 04:45, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
- I thoroughly agree with Truth Be Told. I am not a writer, theologian, philosopher, or anyone of great consequence. But…this movie was gripping. I could not leave my chair.
- Some have railed about it being religious Christian propaganda. Let’s face it we are all religious about something whether it’s worshiping in the mirror, money, food, routines, or any thing that’s an obsession.
- Christianity is a faith not a religion. Any faith could have been inserted into the plot. That’s why it is justified as being a horror story. Those who are capable of thinking for themselves, understand the horror in this movie. M.Night Shamalyn’s has been accused of putting out movies tagged as horror but, are not. Pea soup, grape jelly, noodles, overprotective parents, pheromones, 50’ Women, giant rabbits, roaches, a breathing disorder all can become horror in the hands of a good artist. Those who would define horror as not horror have not lived in this reality long enough. Anything can be horror if the experience is horrifying to one’s perspective.
- I can argue that the true horror in Night of the Living Dead is not in the relentless zombies eating ‘normal’ people and prolific gore, but the gut-punching conclusion as the brave protagonist dies at the hands of those who were to be the rescuers and protectors. Of course the racial horror theme is obvious and, at that time in our history, a profoundly human horror which continues.
- Those who complain about being ‘tricked’ into something only have themselves to blame for their own self- publicized ignorance. Blindly watching a movie is a silly thing to complain about. It’s like the guy stumbling into an oasis finding two of his three date fruit are rotten, turning away from his firelight, popping the last into his mouth without wanting to know, and then complaining about its freshness!
- Nefarious is an excellent artistic work in that the incredibly well-executed dialogue provides the impetuous for the movie. As an average cinephile, I consider that as high artistic praise.
- Please forgive my lack of writing ability, I just hope my support is helpful. 97.123.72.184 (talk) 23:40, 14 October 2024 (UTC)
