Notability: Use in schools
[edit]I cannot comment to most of the notability criteria, but this book is used in an appreciable number American world-literature classes. Google "syllabus Nectar in a Sieve" to see examples of this. I can only speculate why this is, but it may be in part because the book deals with themes common to many teenagers and young adults, the text has an Indian author writing about India, and is relatively approachable for western audiences, despite the non-western focus.
My wife is a teacher, and she uses it in her world-lit precisely because it is hard to find non-western works that are accessible to American students. 128.252.20.193 (talk) 17:12, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
The book has been world lit reading in public schools for decades. It is also a million-copy best seller. I don't see any reason to doubt the notability of the book. Removing the notability tag. JoGusto (talk) 22:44, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
