• I corrected some of the language.
• I corrected the claim that Softtek has copyrighted the term "nearshore;" in fact, the copyright is for the term "Near Shore." The term "nearshore," as an lowercase, compound word is a generic term that has been in used for many years in the context of seashore related activities and, as such, it is not a candidate for copyright protection.
• I separated the "articles" into Articles and Nearshore-vendor Pages. The Articles list includes the material published in relatively neutral publications. The others land directly on vendor pages with no added-value content. The latter should really be taken out altogether, but seeing how this is my first experience at editing Wikipedia articles, I'll wait for other comments before doing so.

If you are a provider of nearshoring services, please list yourself on a commercial search engine instead of posting a link within this article. Here are examples of links that were removed:

• Rural Sourcing Inc. offers low-cost, high quality information technology services within the US
• Softtek Nearshore Services - Softtek is a leading provider of Near Shore IT services to US and Europe

Links of this nature will continue to be frowned upon, unless you comment here about why your company's marketing slogan and homepage are worthy of encyclopedic mention.

Overview

• changes to the overview. much of the overview was devoted to why one would offshore. this is not the place since one should read offshoring for that. also, there is a consistent error in that nearshoring was called outsourcing, when it is sourcing, not just outsourcing. i did not finish making those corrections in the entire piece, but will do so later. Introductory Definition

• i cleaned up some lose areas. Again, there was an error in the previous version that defined nearhsoring as outsourcing, when some nearshoring is not outsourcing, but "insourcing"/ captive. Also, some vendors are adding advertisements which is inappropriate. Excarmel 20 May 2010

Rename Nearshoring to Nearshore Outsourcing - incorrect

Dear established users, I would like to propose to rename the Nearshoring article or to create separate article with the name Nearshore Outsourcing as it's more common and used term in related spheres, while Nearshoring is not. Most of professionals use Nearshore Outsourcing as derivative of Offshore Outsourcing. I contribute to one blog with the same name Nearshore Outsourcing, but the current article is not focused to serve the current needs of the industry and provide specialists from related areas with the relevant information. When interested users looking for Nearshore Outsourcing they don't use Nearshoring, according to statistics. So, if it possible, I will be very glad if you can help me to sort it out.

Sergey: This would be incorrect. One can nearshore without outsourcing. For example, when an American firm such as EDS or IBM allocates work to Monterrey Mexico it is nearshoring, but it is not outsourcing.Excarmel (talk) 22:20, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
