Will The Real Sphinx Svenson Please Stand Up?!
[edit]I didn't want to cause any undue duress by changing the main page - I'll leave that to whomever is wrangling it - but according to Roman Jugg on his MySpace page , Captain Sensible was Sphinx. He further states at the live gigs he - Roman - played only keyboards. It's true during the Naz Nomad project , Captain was starting to fallout with The Damned , but Roman says he did play guitar with them. ( No confirmation if this is true of the studio recordings, but a few of the backing voices sound like Captain. ) Harvey J Satan (talk) 21:45, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
- I changed the article details a while ago to omit Sensible - and there are no worries here if it turns out to be incorrect info and needs to be changed back. :-) There's so much conflicting information on this subject, that it's hard to know what's true. Sensible states in this interview that the Damned recorded the album while he was busy on solo stuff - "We started getting into this and just decided to... well they decided to record a covers album, while I was out recording 'Happy Talk' and the rest of my solo stuff. So that was their way of getting in the studio and doing something while they were waiting for me."
- Different interview, same response here: "Q: Were you a part of the Naz Nomad record (a '60s sounding side project of Dave Vanian's)? A: No, that's what they did while I was off having a solo pop career in the eighties."
- However, you then get sources like this that claim Sensible was involved as Svenson, and then a source like this that claims Sensible was actually guitarist "Ulla"!
- Clear as mud! :-) --DaveG12345 (talk) 17:50, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
- Yes indeed. But much better than the answers received when chatting up the band after some of the "Phantasmagoria" or "Anything" tours , "Naz Who?" - total denial from Dave, Rat & Roman! Even Sensible plays dumb about it , as experienced in 2005. Harvey J Satan (talk) 21:32, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
