[edit]There needs to be a distinction between Navarre Beach (the state park) the county park, formerly a state park on Navarre Beach is only east of the causeway to the Air Force property the Navarre Beach to the west is a mix of residential and tourist type businesses area and Navarre Beach (the city)there is no city nor village, only an area known as Navarre Beach. They both reside on Santa Rosa Island, FL. I suggest renaming this page Navarre Beach State Park and creating a new page called Navarre Beach, Florida or Navarre Beach (the city).
- While I agree that this article would be better named as "Navarre Beach State Park", I can't find any good indication that there is any city known as "Navarre Beach". There appears to be an unincorporated community and post office known as Navarre, Florida, although the area Chamber of Commerce calls itself the Navarre Beach CoC. I suggest renaming this article, leaving a redirect to the SP, and in the article add a reference to the community of Navarre. older≠wiser June 29, 2005 02:46 (UTC)
As of October 2008, the Navarre Beach State Park is now under the control of the county and is now called Navarre Beach Park.
There is a Navarre Beach city/village/area
[edit]I have spent the last 6 winters on/in Navarre Beach. I can't prove whether it is incorporated or not, but it DOES sxist. There are two very big water towers that say Navarre Beach on them. There is also a utilities department and a Navarre Beach Volunteer Fire Department. Navarre is on the mainland. Navarre Beach is on Santa Rosa Island - a barrier island. You get there by taking the Navarre Beach Bridge and the Navarre Beach Causway. At the end of the causway, if you turn left you go to Navarre Beach State Park. If you turn right you are in the city/village of Navarre Beach. It extends about 3 miles to the west and ends at the National Seashore. Part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore (I think).
While Navarre Beach does share the same zip code as Navarre - so does Gulf Breeze.
A bit of trivia: Both were badly damaged by Hurricane Ivan.
