Comment

[edit]

I apologise for the general crapness of this article so far. I plan to do more research into the history of the movement. All help gratefully received. Perodicticus 11:44, 11 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

inaccurate statement

[edit]

The following was inaccurate:

"Although the natural food diet has only ever been practiced by a minority..."

If one goes back far enough in history, a majority of people would have eaten natural food. For example, I'm sure all cavemen eat natural foods. What I think was meant by the statement is that in modern times the natural food diet has been practiced only by a minority. It has been corrected --Cab88 17:56, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I meant a natural-food diet that was consciously identified as such, and held to be separate from the mainstream way of eating. Of course, such a distinction only became necessary in modern times. Perodicticus 10:40, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Atoms are natural. Thus all foods made of atoms are natural--Shniken1 (talk) 04:01, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal

[edit]

This article and Natural Foods Diet share the same subject and therefore should be merged. Though this page is entitled Natural food movement, it says very little about that movement, except that it was popular in the 1970s. I believe the best home for these articles is Natural foods, with a section for the natural food movement. Gobonobo T C 04:00, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds good to me! Perodicticus 08:02, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

not "comida naturista" i think

[edit]

Spanish "Comida naturista" excludes meat. Natural foods doesn't. I think they are different concepts. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.57.241.62 (talk) 02:44, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gave birth to various pop culinary movements of our time?

[edit]

My impression has always been natural food evolved into the movements towards organic food, that in turn spurred local food and farmer's market, just as the early 1970s alternative lifestylists became environmentalists. For example, a sample early 21st century university student assignment paper reflects the establishment academic attitude that natural foods was just the first phase of current food fashions: http://web.missouri.edu/ikerdj/papers/SFT-New%20Food%20Movement.htm

In a sense it has not disappeared altogether, but rather natural food is the first stage of today's sustainability-inspired food fads. Does anyone have any articles about natural food and links with local food etc? --JNZ (talk) 07:52, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please make mention of GMO? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.232.46.16 (talk) 06:04, 7 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. This page needs to make mention of and reference Genetically modified food. I am surprised this page is so scant in general and frequented/edited so rarely. Is it because more emphasis is on Organic food?Kerdooskis (talk) 18:05, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Outdated information?

[edit]

Link 12 (cited in-text when discussing the FDA's regulations of the term "all-natural") is broken, and the FDA website implies the article is outdated. A replacement with updated information would be great, because it looks like the information has changed.
