Name

It isn't the Future Farmers of America anymore... as such, the main article for the FFA should NOT be titled Future Farmers of America... rather, the "National FFA Organization"

Everyone still calls it Future Farmers of America, so that is the common title, I created a redirect from National FFA Organization to this page. dml 20:51, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

It explains so in the "About FFA" section. FFA stands for nothing anymore. They changed from the acronym to just the letters several years ago because they thought the change would signify a broadening scope of the organization. The FFA was originaly the Future Farmers of America but they changed it to the National FFA Orginization in 1988. So that means that they changed what it was called. The FFA letters i guess could technicaly mean nothing but it should still be takin as a National Orginization even though the letters ffa sstand for nothing. I disagree. F.F.A. Still stands for Future Farmers of America. its called the National FFA Organization because in fact it does spread across the nation. I believe that Purcell Oklahoma is the best FFA chapter in the nation.

I agree that F.F.A. stands for Future Farmers of America -- No matter how they changed the name. The FFA is for the youth and who are 'OUR ' Future Farmers of America. If we do not have anyone to take the place of our Farmers we would not have the food to be placed on our Tables. The official name is "National FFA Organization". The national charter still reads Future Farmers of America, as it would require an amendment through US Congress to change. Even so, it is not known as Future Farmers of America any longer, except through misconception. The acronym is no more. I teach Agricultural Science Education at a High School in Minnesota and am an FFA Advisor. According to the National FFA History: "In 1988, the delegates at the 61st National FFA Convention voted to change the organization’s official name from Future Farmers of America to the National FFA Organization. This change was made to recognize that FFA is not only for those interested in farming, but it is also for those with more diverse interests in the industry of agriculture, encompassing science, business and technology in addition to production farming".

FFA does still stand for Future Farmers of America, that is just not what the organization is referred too. I am a former chapter vice president and best friend of a state officer. It is important to note the change and history of it, to inform those who might misunderstand. It isn't to say FFA and Agriculture are disconnected from Farming, but instead to better represent the growth of the industry, expansion of the curriculum into science, technology, engineering and math, as well as art and economics education and to be inclusive all of aspects of Food, Fiber and Natural Resources. • Just a note that this page has recently been moved back to Future Farmers of America. For those not aware, the organization somewhat recently moved away from the name Future Farmers of America and now refer to themselves as the National FFA Organization.[1] I personally think it's a bit odd and cumbersome, but I wanted to make sure others were aware of this in case someone else think of a page move. Degrees

Is there enough about each of the five degrees to justify having their own articles? I think that they each merit maybe a sentence or two in the main article, but not their own articles. The articles feel like guides on how to gain them, something that's easily obtainable through the national website. Metros232 21:08, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

Ah, no. Articles without sources are tagged with {{Unreferenced}}. This article does actually list a reference , so it could be tagged with {{Refimprove}} - as it is. If you have specific concerns regarding claims that you believe to be original research - please explain what they are, but don't expect other editors to waste time trying to figure out what those concerns are. Please read WP:DRIVEBY, specifically the section that says

"Drive-by tagging is strongly discouraged. The editor who adds the tag must address the issues on the talk page, pointing to specific issues that are actionable within the content policies, namely Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, Wikipedia:Verifiability, Wikipedia:No original research and Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons. Simply being of the opinion that a page is not neutral is not sufficient to justify the addition of the tag. Tags should be added as a last resort. NoCal100 (talk) 14:09, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

Officer list / past presidents

I have removed the lists of current national officers and of past national presidents. On Wikipedia, we have a long standing guideline to not add the current list of national officers to student organization pages per WP:NOT since we are not a directory. The list of past preisdents is little more than trivia. The same would apply to a list of past national conferences as well. only (talk) 10:59, 22 January 2018 (UTC)

I've always been borderline on this one since national officer positions can be fairly easily arguable as a position of notoriety in a high school/college organization. However, with new officers each year and arbitrarily including only presidents here previously, it can get into indiscriminate list territory too.
