Hall of Fame
[edit]The consensus at the other debate association and type pages has been that individual debaters are not encyclopaedic. A _link_ to the hall of fame might be more appropriate. Rick Boatright 19:30, 9 August 2005 (UTC)
- I agree. Those involved in these debate associations tend to forget that they are "big fish in a small pond". --Commonchaos 19:52, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
Individual Debators Not Encyclopaedic.
[edit]How are the top ten debators in a minor home-school league encyclopaedic?
A link seems more appropriate Rick Boatright 23:35, 22 October 2005 (UTC)
The NCFCA is not a minor homeschool league. It is by far the largest forensics league for homeschoolers and despite the fact that it has only been in existence for ten years, the percentage of homeschoolers competing in the NCFCA is approximately equal to the percentage of public schoolers competing in the NFL.
"Hall of fame" and individual debater recognition may be replaced by a link as soon as one is available. Unfortunately, the NCFCA is notorious for falling behind in certain parts of their website - it has even become a joke among the homeschool community - and they currently do not have many of the recent winners available. We will work on establishing a hall of fame on a different website for access by Wikipedia users.

Club Additions
[edit]There is a new section under the NCFCA page for current NCFCA speech and debate clubs. The hope is that NCFCA club members will start Wikipedia pages for their club and then link them from the NCFCA page. Under each of these club pages that clubs achievements will be encyclopaedic. --Nate Hanson
- No, the clubs themselves aren't noteable enough for their own articles. pm_shef 04:39, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, that is not up to random Wikipedian's to decide. The level of notability required is rather abstract. Nate Hanson 06:18, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
- While I agree that individual clubs' notability is not very high - Nate makes a point that the level of notability required is very abstract. If it's going to be decided that these club pages are not notable enough for articles, there needs to be some kind of standard set and other pages that do not fulfill it need to be deleted as well. HomeschooledDebater 13:16, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
Please see arguments here. - Nate Hanson 14:58, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
TfD nomination of Template:NCFCA Clubs
[edit]Template:NCFCA Clubs has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for Deletion page. Thank you. pm_shef 06:02, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
Team List
[edit]- I'm sure i'm not the only one here who thinks that this team/club list is getting a bit unwieldy. If not deleted entirely, it should at least be moved to a subpage. Thoughts? - pm_shef 21:11, 11 June 2006 (UTC)
- I second. The list will only grow bigger and bigger as there are hundreds of established clubs throughout the country. I'll vote subpage for now; deletion if necessary. --HomeschooledDebater 22:55, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
- I moved it since no one dissented -- pm_shef 23:50, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
This should be moved to a different name, possibly List of National Christian Forensics and Communications Association clubs, or suggest the name of your choice. Subpages (with the /) are not supposed to be used in the main article space, see here. Gimmetrow 04:05, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
- Okey doke, didn't know that, thanks. - pm_shef 23:50, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
Rewrite
[edit]I expanded and rewrote the article to include more information. NCFCAers, please correct me if I got any of the facts wrong. I tried to provide a reasonable, but useful summary. I'm very interested to hear what information anyone thinks should be on the page that isn't or what info shouldn't be on that is...--HomeschooledDebater 00:48, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
Sourcebooks
[edit]I have removed the link to the Final Word sourcebook site. I understand that the authors have worked very hard and I know the sourcebook market is very competitive this year, so my apologies, but it is not appropriate for an encyclopedia article. Posting a random link like that is not going to sell many sourcebooks. Unless that sourcebook is somehow exemplary of the league or has some particular reason why the average person should care, it shouldn't be linked to. Wikipedia is not a free advertising site - it is an encyclopedia.
Secondly, I noticed on the history page that someone typed randomly at the end of one of the paragraphs "the best team in the NCFCA is now Touche." Thank you pm_shef for the speedy deletion, this was a completely juvenile, NPOV, and baseless statement. Many people come to wikipedia to get information about things like the NCFCA and making outlandish and immature statements like that does not help the reputation of the league.

Infobox
[edit]Hey everyone I just added a new infobox for the article. There were still some things I left blank like membership and formation which I did not know or couldn't find on their website. So if anyone else knows them reply to me and I can fill them in. DiligentTerrier • talk |sign here 16:50, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
Photo
[edit]I am adding the photo request template to this talk page as there are no photos in the article and we could use some. DiligentTerrier • talk |sign here 17:12, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:NCFCA Logo.JPG
[edit]Image:NCFCA Logo.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Cleanup within this page
[edit]This article needs lots of cleanup to meet quality standards. The Past Resolutions section should be moved to a new page, the grammar and logical flow also needs to be checked. National Championships location seems to be out of place also. I have edited this article before and would urge others to do the same. Htmlqawsedrftg (talk) 08:12, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- I agree. I was going to do some of that, but never got a chance. Maybe you join join WP:WikiProject Homeschooling, and we can all work on that. DiligentTerrier and friends 17:18, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
- I have restructured this page. Htmlqawsedrftg (talk) 19:42, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
