Name of Article
[edit]I don't hear anyone locally refer to this building as the "National Bank of Rolla Building." It is almost always referred to as the "Edwin Long Building" or "Edwin Long Hotel" around here. I'm just curious why "National Bank of Rolla Building" is the name of the article. Only way I'd understand that is is that's the name on the National Register of Historic Places. But it sounds a bit stilted, in my opinion. Ninjozi (talk) 11:22, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
The article was titled "National Bank Of Rolla" because that is what the building was originally called in 1931 when it opened. If you examine the cornerstone of the building at 8th and Pine St in Rolla you will find it titled National Bank of Rolla. It was contructed as both a bank and hotel and when the application for National Register of Historic Places was made it was determined that the only original part of the building was the bank portion due ot the extensive remodeling of the hotel portion for the present baniking operation so the application was make not only due to the building's original name but its current banking purpose. -Original Author
