Edit-war
It's not a question of UN, Nato, EU, or whatever. It's a question of WP:COMMONNAME and WP:MOSMAC. I suppose you could possibly consider this an "article about Greece": but it is not a political article in the slightest. "Republic of Macedonia" makes perfect sense here and is not confusing in the least. I see no reason not to use it, and, as MOSMAC makes clear, the general presumption is that we do use it unless there are very good reasons not to. Moreschi (talk) 21:38, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
- RienPost, this is ridiculous. Now you're the disruptive one. We've got a guideline about all this: WP:MOSMAC. You don't like that: get consensus for changes at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style (Macedonia-related articles). But this is not the place for a big fight over this issue. Moreschi (talk) 22:23, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
- Please also note that AerospaceM (talk · contribs) is, very possibly, a sock of banned user Mywayyy (talk · contribs). Restoring his edits by perpetual reverts is a seriously dumb idea. The whole "Republic of Macedonia/FYROM" issue has been gone over again and again. For current consensus, read WP:MOSMAC. There's room for compromise here: how about "Republic of Macedonia (FYROM)"? Moreschi (talk) 22:29, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
- I'm disruptive for making ONE edit? Wow. For your information, I did NOT restore/revert a banned user's edit as you claimed in the history of National Bank of Greece. In my second edit I only added a white space at the end of a sentence, so I could add an edit remark in the page's history. Furthermore I had already stated in the same remark that I wasn't in the mood for endless reversing. So your remark "RienPost, restoring edits made by the likely sock of a banned user is a bad idea. Edit war ends here" was incorrect and unnecessary. I am not interested in an edit war at all. I do think the UN and EU are a better source of information when it comes to the correct name of countries than Wikipedia:MOSMAC, though. I'm well aware of the whole FYROM/Macedonia name dispute (I live in Greece, you know) and personally I don't care what the country is called. But right now it's on the UN and EU's books as FYROM, so I'd say that's its name. For now, anyway. Thank you. Oh, and stop calling my actions 'ridiculous' and 'seriously dumb', okay? Pay more attention to edit histories first. Rien Post (talk) 23:09, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
- Reinpost: Pax? I am quite comfortable with Republic of Macedonia (FYROM). As Moreschi asked, would that work for you? By the way, I am not from the Balkans and have no nationalistic interest either. The reason I have the bank on my watchlist is that I contributed much of the ptr-2006 history of the NBG. Acad Ronin (talk) 23:55, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
- Pax? I didn't know we were at war, Acad Ronin. As I said above, I'm not interested in an edit war about FYROM. I merely changed the name ONCE because I was (am) convinced it's the proper name at the moment. If people change it back, fine. I think Macedonia/FYROM is a good alternative for Wikipedia. That should please everybody. Or almost everybody ;-) Rien Post (talk) 00:05, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
- Reinpost: No war, but I had noticed that tempers were getting short all round and I wanted to signal that being difficult was not my intent. :-) Acad Ronin (talk) 00:38, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
- Same here, same here. I just don't like being wrongly accused, but that's got nothing to do with you. Rien Post (talk) 00:46, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
- RienPost: apologies for getting your handle wrong above. I implemented the compromise only to have an anonymous editor revert it to FYROM. I have put in a RFPP (partial). This appears to be one of those issues some people are absolute about. Acad Ronin (talk) 01:12, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
- I see the 'edit war' is still going on in the article. This is getting tiresome. I seconded your RFPP. Rien Post (talk) 01:22, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Confusion about 'National' / Central Bank of Greece
Hello!
I think it would be instructive for the reader to state at the beginning, that the National B.o.G. is not an article about the Greek central bank 'ΤΡΑΠΕΖΑ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ',the Bank of Greece. A similar statement is at the beginning of the Bank of Greece artikle. If no one objects I'll add that as a preface. Zeptomoon (talk) 12:10, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
- I'd say do it. Can't hurt. Acad Ronin (talk) 19:24, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
