Proposed merge with Country Brand Index
The Country Brand Index is already covered in more detail here than in that article. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 00:51, 31 December 2014 (UTC)
- Well, it was covered in more detail, but it turns out that that was a copyright violation – see below. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 01:00, 31 December 2014 (UTC)
- Support; the Country Brand Index article was cut to only two short paragraphs once its WP:TOP100 copyvio list was removed. --McGeddon (talk) 19:45, 27 March 2015 (UTC)
- I've redirected the page here and removed the merge tag from this article. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 22:26, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
Copyright in lists
The list has been removed from this article in accordance with WP:NFC, which notes that lists based on factual data can be included in Wikipedia, but that complete or partial recreations of creative lists cannot be. Wikipedia:Copyright in lists explains the issues a little more. Basically, where subjective opinion is involved, a list is not free for our reuse. We can, of course, link to the list where it is published by the compiler itself. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 22:02, 30 December 2014 (UTC)
- What about World's most livable cities then ??? Or Global city rankings ??? I can´t see any copyright violations according to WP:NFC. The lists here are typical user generated content based on sources. This is a well accepted standard at Wikipedia. Please don´t pretend otherwise. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.52.203.22 (talk) 14:47, 12 October 2015 (UTC)
- The problem is that the list here is based on some formula or other criteria that the list maker used in order to come to these rankings. That makes the list a creative expression and thus copyrighted. And you are correct in that World's most livable cities and Global city are similarly formed and thus are similarly copyright infringements. See WP:CIL, and also @Moonriddengirl:. - Well, Crow, I agree with 78.52.203.22 – I can't see how the lists at World's most livable cities and Global city are acceptable, since they are apparently based on subjective criteria established by the compiler rather than verifiable data such as surface area or average temperature. I think those lists too should be removed. Draw straws? Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 17:19, 12 October 2015 (UTC)
- @Justlettersandnumbers: Well, yes, that's what I said: those other 2 should go as well... Crow Caw
- Well, indeed yes, so you did! How did I miss that? – I seem to be even more distracted than usual today. Off to do that now (if it hasn't already been done). Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 18:08, 12 October 2015 (UTC)
