Disambiguation
[edit]Well, the Category:Connecticut colonial people has been added to this article. True, Higginson was born in Connecticut colony but then Rev. Higginson, Nathaniel's father had been made Minister of the First church of Salem, Massachusetts in 1660 and hence it is highly probable that Nathaniel might have moved to Massachusetts when he was very young. But then, there arent enough records available on whether he stayed in Connecticut or moved to Salem along with his dad. Hence, I feel it would be better if Category:Connecticut colony people was replaced with Category:People from colonial America to sort out ambiguity. Thanks -Ravichandar 11:19, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
Information about Nathaniel Higginson needs to be validated
[edit]Some of the information needs to be validated and corrected. if we read this:
http://www.e-books-chennaimuseum.tn.gov.in/chennaimuseum/images/135/mobile/index.html#p=33
it says:
7th June 1726 - Here Lyeth interr'd the body of RICHARDS HIGGINSON, son of Nathaniel Higginson Esq formerly Governor of Fort St George He dyed the 7th of June 1726 in the 32nd year of his age being then 7th in Council He was a man greatly esteem'd for his integrity. Nathaniel Higginson, first Mayor of Madras and Governor (October. 23rd, 1692, to July 7th, 1698) in supersession of Elihu Yale. married Elizabeth Richardson 31st May 1692, a few months before he became Governor. Peter Large (No. 29) officiated Father and gave her away.
This would indicate few corrections: 1. His wife's name was Elizabeth Richardson. 2. He was married by Peter Large - who was a freeman and merchant in Madras. This being few months before Nathaniel become a governor - chances are that marriage was held in Madras and at one of the church in Fort St. George (Whitestown).
