Player role

[edit]

Just posting this here in an attempt to get an outsider's perspective. The player role that McSweeney has on this page seems a little controversial as it has bounced between "batter" and "all-rounder' a few times and I want to open a discussion to avoid the constant reverting of edits. In my opinion, their role should be listed as a batter as this is supported by a majority of sources including player profiles and news articles. While their role on ESPNcricinfo and the Brisbane Heat website is listed as an all-rounder, this is most likely outdated and not accurate. This is evidenced on McSweeney's SACA and cricket.com.au player profile pages, in addition to recent articles produced about them from The Guardian "The right-hander will also be Australia’s first batter to make a men’s Test debut since Will Pucovski..", The Sydney Morning Herald "The 25-year-old will be the first specialist batter to debut for Australia’s men’s Test team since Will Pucovski in 2021.", ESPNcricinfo "The top-order batter is already highly regarded around..". While they do bowl off spin, this is only as a part-time bowler as referenced here cricket.com.au "said McSweeney, whose part-time off-spin was also referenced by national selector George Bailey" and here SACA "McSweeney, a hard-hitting batsman and handy off-spinner". The only sources that I found that seem to reference them as an all-rounder are the two aforementioned. I would appreciate if a consensus could be made on this. Thanks.
