Date of closure

[edit]

I was unable to find the date of closure for Natchez Institute, most likely prior to 1970. Adding a note for future development. PigeonChickenFish (talk) 23:47, 10 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

By the city?

[edit]

I wasn't sure what Union School being the first public school for African American "by the city" meant. What were the earlier schools? It was a city school? Can we just say it was the city's first public school for African Americans? It didn't want to change it if there is an earlier school in the area that would make simply saying the above wouldn't be quite right. FloridaArmy (talk) 02:01, 11 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@FloridaArmy: Hey! The Union School (Natchez, Mississippi) was the first ever public school for African Americans in Natchez (in theory it was suppose to be a counterpoint by the city to the Natchez Institute). The sentence you suggested, "the city's first public school for African Americans" works for me. Thanks for your edits. PigeonChickenFish (talk) 02:05, 11 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
