The result of the move request was: Moved to Sharks (Currie Cup). There seems to be a consensus. (non-admin closure)  — Amakuru (talk) 09:14, 7 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Natal SharksSharks (Currie Cup) – The team is known as the Sharks. In order to disambiguate is from the Sharks Super Rugby team, a meaningful name would be the KZN Sharks, since the provincial union controlling the team is the KwaZulu-Natal Rugby Union. Natal Province was renamed KwaZulu-Natal (commonly abbreviated as KZN) in 1994, so the former isn't officially in use anymore. TheMightyPeanut (talk) 14:02, 18 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I can tell, KZN Sharks isn't a name that's used by either the team officially, or in common use by the media, fans etc. so I'd oppose moving the page there. This page suggests they were branded Natal Sharks up until 2009, then briefly just Sharks and are now The Sharks. If the Super Rugby franchise is named the same thing, perhaps disambiguating them with parentheses would be the way to go? Rugger80 (talk) 17:19, 25 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Rugger80:, would you care to suggest a name then? TheMightyPeanut (talk) 18:11, 25 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Would Sharks (Currie Cup) and Sharks (Super Rugby) work? That's follows the format Blues (Super Rugby) and Lions (Super Rugby) use. Rugger80 (talk) 09:54, 26 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
My first instinct was 'no', since the domestic team could play in other competitions...and did so annually in the Vodacom Cup. However, they didn't always play under that name in the Vodacom Cup. being known as the Natal Wildebeest in the early days of the competition and as a Sharks XV in the most recent seasons. Since the Currie Cup is the main competition it would compete in, it would actually make sense. I'm convinced; target updated above. TheMightyPeanut (talk) 20:51, 26 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
