Publicity stunt

[edit]

This looks like a publicity stunt. It's hard to believe that the contestant wasn't forewarned, and that he didn't sue them. 203.158.89.10 (talk) 19:35, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Or that they didn't get sued by some human rights organization, as I imagine a lot of what they did was illegal. Atheuz (talk) 22:43, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You are an American, because we sue for everything. Japan is far different.
While I enjoy laughing at others minor misfortune from time to time, I am amazed that no one stepped in to stop it. If it was a big prize to set him up for life, that would've been a rational choice, but this was ridiculous. The producer is a sadist. 174.160.81.221 (talk) 04:22, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have deleted the external link in question, as even the archive.org version of it does not have the content cited. --87.114.108.254 (talk) 11:09, 24 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Besides the fact that he could send and receive mail, he had a working radio and telephone. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.54.5.140 (talk) 05:12, 13 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A long program about this was broadcast on This American Life, rebroadcast on 27 April 2024. It is called "Human Spectacle." Kdammers (talk) 19:31, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
