Cultural references
[edit]I think Nashwan featuring prominently on most of the games developed by one of the most famous game development companies in the 1990s is hardly just trivia. Trivia would be, for example, mentioning that Bart Simpson once mentioned Naswhan in passing in episode 52,785 of The Simpsons. An entire company basically worshipping the horse isn't. Cultural references aren't evil by themselves, only when they're too distant and minor. JIP | Talk 19:55, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
Nashwan/Hern/Carnarvon controversy
[edit]Nowhere in the article about Nashwan, Hern's article stubb or in Carnarvon's article is (hardly) any mention made of the inglorious period of June 1998 to May 1999 which found focus in the career of Nashwan. Mention was made in the Hern article that he was 'sacked' by Carnarvon in the summer of 1998. This caused enormous ill-feeling towards Carnarvon and more importantly towards the Queen on whom's behalf Carnarvon acted. When Nashwan won the 2000Guineas in May 1989 it became the focal point for the anti-Carnarvon brigade. It has to be said that supporters of Carnarvon were few and far between.. Something should be include in at least one if not all of these articles covering this point. In addition it is worth adding that Carnarvon played a significant part in the arranged sale of Nashwan's dam. It ties in with the above as part of the fee received for selling Height of Fashion went towards the purchase of West Ilsley Stables where Hern trained for the Queen from 1967 to 1990. In buying the stables The Queen became Hern's boss and Carnarvon was her manager. All a sad tale I'm afraid. (Victor Middlesex (talk) 20:51, 12 June 2018 (UTC)).
- A sad tale indeed. The should be plenty of material available to add something to (at least) the Hern & Height of Fashion articles. I've got Peter Willett's biog of Hern which has a 30-page chapter titled "The Lease Crisis" covering the story in detail. The only problems around this for me are - I don't really have the time available to write a big update, and adding a long section to the Hern article would give the matter undue weight as the stub stands at the moment.--Bcp67 (talk) 10:44, 23 July 2018 (UTC)
