Christmas?
[edit]@XtraJovial@TwoTwoHello@M.Bitton@72.208.169.34
This page --mind, a page regarding a Winter Solstice holiday, which are innumerable-- has long-since (a la User:72.208.169.34 circa 2016 and whose sole contribution is thus) become a page in affirmation of one Turkish-national Assyriologist's hypothesis that the Christmas tree has prehistoric origins in a Turkic solstice holiday. I, in error, reverted a reversion, without realizing that that reversion was a reversion of a reversion of a reversion, and thus find myself --reverted and warned for the first time in 16 years of good-faith editing-- in the middle of a now-tepid revert war based upon a relatively archaic silliness that thou moderators most-high hast foundeth fit to preserve since time immemorial.
Is it not more, if not entirely, appropriate that the majority of this page be up for discussion on Talk:Christmas_tree rather than here, where people might be looking for more specific information? This is in keeping with the changes and page-cutting Wikipedia has implemented over the last several years. 172.92.207.59 (talk) 05:08, 14 July 2022 (UTC)
- Upon further examination and translation, entirely all of the mentions on this page regarding Christmas trees and their purported Turkic origins are either uncited or were cited but said citations are now broken and unavailable. @XtraJovial, your reversion was incorrect; my reversion had every merit, and I sincerely hope you see this talk page -as I shall refer to it- when I fix this sorely neglected page in the near future. 172.92.207.59 (talk) 05:59, 14 July 2022 (UTC)
- I screwed up and didn't slow down when I needed to, and I'm very sorry for not doing so. Now that I've taken the time to more thoroughly read the article, it's pretty bad overall, but I feel it could be notable enough for a standalone article. Starting completely over might be the best option here. XtraJovial (talk • contribs) 06:46, 14 July 2022 (UTC)
- I agree that this page is horriblly bad. The claims about the Christmas trees and its Turkic origins are not true; but the topic is notable as this debate whether Nardogan exists from ancient times or not is a popular discussion topic in many platforms nationwide in Türkiye. There is even a town called Gündoğan which organizes Nardogan celebrations since last 10 years based on the similarity of of name for using the popularit of this topic in increasing tourism. I believe the article should remain and fixed to explain all these false claims about Nardogan, the discussions around it and the popularity of this topic.Basak (talk) 21:35, 23 December 2023 (UTC)
