Fying car?

[edit]

Would someone be able to explain/clarify the following: "Currently, since 1999, the car is owned by Chris Williams, who has made this car fly." - Akamad 13:29, September 5, 2005 (UTC)

Racing car template

[edit]

I've had a stab at a template for racing cars (see template:Racing car) to summarise the usual data. I've used the F1 templates as a starting point and applied it to the Brabham BT46 article. If anyone's got an interest in this, please have a look at the template and modify or suggest changes as appropriate. After a few people have had a go at it and we have something we're happy with we could start to use it more widely. Note that it's not meant to be specific to F1, by the way. Cheers. 4u1e 10:20, 2 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In what kind of races did it compete?

[edit]

The article states: "It is seen regularly at historic racing events..." Does this actually race, or is it only demonstrated? In what class of racing did it compete when it was built, and when it was rebuilt after damaging its first chassis? Sincerely, SamBlob (talk) 13:39, 29 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I saw it racing at a VSCC meeting on the old Silverstone short circuit in the mid-1990s, where it was up against a mixed bag of pre-WW2 sports cars. It was rather slow, not least because being under-endowed with brakes the driver was having to lift off halfway down the straight, accompanied by the usual pops, bangs and sheets of flame that are the telltale signs of a healthy Lion on the overrun. Its race ended in the kitty litter on the outside of Becketts, drawing the ire of the bloke standing next to me as he had spent the entire morning fitting it with new tyres.
