Swamp between Hastings Street and Wellesley Road

quote: "There was a swamp between the now Hastings Street and Wellesley Road and the water extended to Clive Square." This seems unlikely. Houses older than the 1931 earthquake can be found in Nelson Crescent and Vigor Brown street further west than Wellesley Road. A tram track ran down Nelson Crescent before the quake. My father grew up in a house in Swan street between Hastings Street and Wellesley road. The swamp at that stage was further west, around the current Douglas Mclean Avenue. If this was true the land must have been reclaimed before the 1931 earthquake. Napier flags

I think that it would be good to include the Napier City flag(s) in at least the basic info box, similar to what has been done on the Wellington page.

The flags of Napier appear to be owned by the Napier City Council according to their Emblems and Ensign Policy. I'd suggest someone seek permission to use a low res version, perhaps? Jakoats02 (talk) 05:45, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
