File:Nankeen kestrel midflight.jpg to appear as POTD soon
[edit]Hello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:Nankeen kestrel midflight.jpg will be appearing as picture of the day on August 11, 2010. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2010-08-11. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. :) Thanks! howcheng {chat} 20:18, 10 August 2010 (UTC)
The Nankeen Kestrel (Falco cenchroides), native to Australia, New Guinea, and nearby islands, is one of the smallest species of falcon (about 31 to 35 cm (12 to 14 in) in length). Unlike other raptors, it does not rely on speed to catch its prey. Instead, it simply perches in an exposed position, but it also has a distinctive technique of hovering over crop and grasslands.Photo: Fir0002
too many pictures?
[edit]just wondering, maybe 4 large pictures is too much for such a short article?
maybe one or two can be removed or they can be made a gallery
