subjectivity

[edit]

The overall tone of this article is too subjective : "our Party", "Looking ahead, Nanjing Foreign Language School is facing a bright and prosperous future. Tomorrow, Nanjing Foreign Language School will surely be even more splendid.", etc.

Concerning Deng Xiaoping, Wikipedia says "Deng Xiaoping graduated from the Chongqing Preparatory School"; please add references.192.54.193.53 (talk) 16:51, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have modified that sentence regarding "our Party" and Deng Xiaoping. Deng Xiaoping did not graduate from NFLS, however many alumni/alumnae of NFLS worked for him.

I also modified the "Looking ahead" paragraph. I think some part of this article was originated from an official school web-page of self-introduction. Therefore the tone is more or less subjective. The data are quite reliable, but need some update. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.125.101.226 (talk) 19:29, 15 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I don't know how to add references. But I can tell you a source of this article: Go to the school's official website, then click on the tab "南外概况". After that, you can find a link to an introduction to this school in English. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.125.101.226 (talk) 20:28, 15 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Notable Alumni needed.

There are many news about NFLS you can add it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.212.9.221 (talk) 08:23, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oh my god... Copyright???

There are a lot of things written by myself, especially in the section of "Admissions".

There is indeed some information originated from the self-introduction on NFLS official website, however that web-page is turely an "advertisement", which also appears on other public websites. I am very sure that people in this school will be very happy to see their "advertisement" posted on Wikipedia.

If you don't believe me, just google the sentence below, and you will find many webpages exactly the same as the one on the school's official website:

Google this sentence: Nanjing Foreign Language School (NFLS) is one of the first foreign language schools established under the direct guidance of our beloved late Premier Zhou Enlai.

Please recover this article, at least not delete it all. NFLS is extremely famous in the city of Nanjing. I have explained some of its importance in the section of "Admissions".

Undocumented Controversy

[edit]

The article makes a number of references to controversy without proper references, and without showing why this is relevant to the subject matter. Controversy can be encyclopedic (such as the "chad" controversy settled by the Supreme Court in the first George W Bush election) but it can also be situational - written by a party to the controversy who has an opinion on the matter. This article reads closer to the latter, and as such unless the references can be independently supported and shown to merit inclusion, they should be deleted.

I came to this web page seeking information about the school, and found this emphasis on controversy to be unbalanced, especially if the claim is true that it is one of the best schools in China. If so, then the tempest in a teapot.
