Proposed Redirect to Dundee School Shootings
[edit]As an outgrowth of the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Marion_Young, I merged Marion Young, Nanette Hanson and Robert Mone into a single article. That discussion closed as redirect, at least in part on the basis that there is now a single article that covers Ms. Young. Hanson is now fully covered in Dundee School Shootings including large parts of the text of this article.
Young is the other person killed in the incident. Hanson got the George Cross and Young only got the George Medal. Otherwise, policy-wise they are virtually the same.
The next logical step would be to change this page into a redirect. It seems like it should be uncontroversial as almost all the content remains on Wikipedia, but I see her page recently survived an AfD nomination with everyone but the nominator (the same nominator as on Young's) voting for keep.
Before I make this page into a redirect, I'd like to see if anyone has further thoughts. Oblivy (talk) 06:00, 1 June 2023 (UTC)
- Sorry but I opposed the merge/redirect. The overwhelming vote was to keep and I see not reason to change that. 10mmsocket (talk) 07:51, 1 June 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for your comment. Just to be clear, there was no proposal to merge/redirect on this article; the proposal was to delete and a flood of keep votes was cut off by the nominator before a full discussion had been had. That was also before there was a dedicated article to which a redirect could be made.
- I'm not suggesting Hanson is unworthy of being discussed on Wikipedia -- as you probably know, I was originally at keep for Young, but after considering other people's views I proposed merge. Based on the closer's comments that probably saved her from being erased from Wikipedia. I think there's good reason to believe a repeat of this nomination would result in a delete or redirect vote. I'd be interested to see if anyone else has views. Oblivy (talk) 02:25, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
