Lack of solid historical background.

[edit]

This account of gNubs ban Nam mkha’i snying po should be presented for what it is: a summary of the Tibetan standard beliefs (stemming from Nyang ral Nyi ma ’od zer's bKa’ thang) about this figure. We completely lack independent research crossing older sources in a scientific way. Of course, we are excused to simply re-tell the traditional story as long as it has not been refuted – but then all the sentences should be rewritten in the form: "Nub ban Namkhai Nyingpo is said to… is believed to… tradition says…", etc. Presented in this form, this paper lacks the accuracy and solid background that can be expected from an encyclopedy.

The mention of the line of tülkus (in fact, only of the contemporary link of the chain) is also not relevant to a 8th-century figure. If would be the object of another page, with, then sufficient information on all the successive incarnations. The present Namkhai Nyingpo Rinpoche is in fact very important as he is viewed as the main lineage holder for the Northern Treasures (Byang gter) outside of Tibet.
