Title
[edit]Shouldn't it be "Names for Australian football". The "name of Australian football" is "Australian football", the article is about other names for it. – ukexpat (talk) 13:23, 22 November 2011 (UTC)
- In my opinion the two are basically interchangeable, but I wouldn't be too fussed if you moved it. I♦A 15:33, 22 November 2011 (UTC)
Use of the term football
[edit]The terms footy and football are only used where Australian football is the dominant code. In NSW and Queensland this term is never used for Australian football. I'm just trying to work out the best way to explain this concept. Mdw0 (talk) 12:15, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Football_%28word%29#Australia has a go at it.
- That's not entirely true wrt NSW and Queensland. In the Riverina districts of NSW and the border regions (with Norther Territory and South Australia) of Queensland, Australian football is usually referred to as football or footy. So saying "football" and "footy" are never used in NSW and Queensland is not correct. --119.18.17.54 (talk) 12:54, 7 April 2013 (UTC)
