Editing origin
[edit]Been of Warrior class, the Status of the Nair was next only to the Brahmins and the Royal Family and the fact is that Travancore Royal Family was originally Nairs.Nair had traditionally held high positions in the Kerala society including that of Temple administraion.
People belonging to low Caste were allowed entry into temples in 1936 with Temple Entry Proclamation issued by Maharaja of Travancore. The status of Christians are considered lower than of lower caste Hindus as they considered Mlechas (outcast) and are still not allowed to enter temples. So the statement of Christian having equal status with Brahmins is a joke.
