Name

Her name in russian is "Надежда", thus her name in english should be translated "Nadezda", same like Nadia Petrova the tennis player —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.199.198.237 (talk) 09:05, August 29, 2007 (UTC)

The IAAF.org profile page also says Nadzeya, which is funny - if her name in Russian is "Надежда", then this is clearly wrong. It should read "Nadezhda", in fact. GregorB 08:55, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox anomaly

The medals display in the infobox shows Disqualified for the 2012 Olympics. Should that be mentioned at all? She is not a medal winner. Also, the IOC statement said ".... it has disqualified, withdrawn the medal from, and excluded Belarus's Nadzeya Ostapchuk (athletics, women's shot put) from the Games of the XXX Olympiad in London." I think it is appropriate to the article--to her history. She did participate in the Olympics. She won the gold medal and was subsequently disqualified. We are here to report facts. Failing to mention the disqualification would be irresponsible to the prose (it is the lede). I think her history equally should be announced in the medal table, so someone scanning the article can quickly see what she is known for. If she ever does anything else in her life, being stripped of the gold medal for testing positive for performance enhancing drugs still will override almost anything else. I don't suggest it isn't mentioned in the text, far from it. But I wondered if she should be included in the infobox medal tally for a games she didn't attend according to the records (because she has been excluded). Not a biggie. Moriori (talk) 01:39, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Not to rehash the argument, but she did attend and was disqualified. That is a different result from not attending at all.

But the real reason I write here again is to ask why she has not been disqualified from other results. If she was disqualified for the 2005 World Championships, shouldn't she also be disqualified from the World Athletics Final a month later. Shouldn't she be in a 2 year ban period following that disqualification? Wouldn't that disqualify her ability to qualify for the 2007 World Championships.
