Are there many more?

[edit]

Is NGC 988 a unique case, or are there many more extragalactic systems which show seemingly bright foreground stars in them? (pseudo-supernovae). Is there a list of them somewhere in Wikipedia? I suppose that this sort of foreground stars create all sorts of false reports of so-called "new" supernovae in extragalactic systems. An online catalog of already known pseudo-supernovae could be a very handy source for extragalactic supernova hunters! DannyCaes (talk) 18:30, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
