I have removed the entry for National Front for the Liberation of Vietnam as it's not supported by the article itself which says it's called NLF not NFL... Nil Einne 06:27, 29 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bias?

[edit]

Why does national football league link directly to the American one when other countrys have NFL's also. This seems a tiny bit biased--Play Brian Moore 21:26, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In practice, Wikipedia has a ton of articles for the American one to that title, and not one link to the title "National Football League (United States)". How is equal-topic dis-ambiguation sensible here despite this?? Georgia guy 00:09, 22 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
As per WP:DAB#Primary topic:
When the primary meaning for a term or phrase is well known (indicated by a majority of links in existing articles, and by consensus of the editors of those articles), then use that topic for the title of the main article, with a disambiguation link at the top. Where there is no such consensus, there is no primary topic page.
Looking at the page histories of all these articles, National Football League has been the "primary meaning" since that page was first started on 26 October 2001. This disambiguation page itself was not started until 22 May 2005, the same day that National Football League (India) was started. As for National Football League (Ireland), it was not created until 25 September 2005. So based on the majority of links to existing articles, I doubt there would be any consensus for a proposed move. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 00:36, 22 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Especially when you consider that as of this moment, Special:Whatlinkshere/National Football League (Ireland) lists only 109 pages, Special:Whatlinkshere/National Football League (India) only has 12 pages, while Special:Whatlinkshere/National Football League lists over 3000. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 00:59, 22 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
And, Special:Whatlinkshere/National Football League (United States), just as mentioned above, has 0. So leaving the current status quo makes sense to me. Georgia guy 01:00, 22 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Newfoundland

[edit]

In no way is NFL an abbreviation for Newfoundland and Labrador. It was NF but it's now NL. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.253.238.122 (talk) 18:49, 17 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It's not an official postal code, but it does appear to used unofficially for both Newfoundland itself and for Newfoundland and Labrador as a whole. The point of a disambiguation page is to help people find what they're looking for on Wikipedia, not to list official abbreviations. - BilCat (talk) 19:14, 17 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

How about moving it to National Football League (disambiguation)? - Ahunt (talk) 14:12, 20 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
