NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw
[edit]What happened to the Brokaw title card? Also, why is this section so short? Shouldn't we mention Brokaw at the Berlin Wall and other accomplishments that he made during his tenure at Nightly News? Mwhayes1995 (talk) 23:16, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
- Hello,
- I have found a website with the title cards of the news anchors, from Camel News Caravan (1949-1956) to Brian Williams (2007-present).
Here is the link for that website: NBC Nightly News Title Cards
Initial comments
[edit]This makes it sound like David Brinkley only helped host with Chancellor in the beginning, when in reality he co-hosted with Chancellor as late as 1979. Mike H 22:43, Oct 2, 2004 (UTC)
can somebody find a picture with Brian Williams hosting Nightly News
could some yank tell us at what time this show is on, plz
Seconded.could some yank tell us at what time this show is on,plz.--200.161.136.227 00:34, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
"The program held onto the #1 ratings spot from Williams' first day, averaging about 10 million viewers weekly until February 2007, when it slipped behind its closest competitor, World News with Charles Gibson. However, after a few months, Nightly News regained its lead. Since then, it is the only evening newscast to increase its audience, and has now been America's most-watched evening newscast for over a decade." Over a decade? Do the math: Feb. 2007 to present is well short of a decade! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.73.223.239 (talk) 00:01, 20 February 2013 (UTC)
Live Broadcasts
[edit]I believe that the show is broadcast live on the East coast, but is this also the case in other timezones? Or, do these timezones just see a recording of the east coast broadcast? I think this would be an interesting note for the article. Jrmski 00:08, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
For the Broadcasts out of the US
[edit]For that section, I think that India is one of them. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Hiddenhearts (talk • contribs) 19:07, 23 March 2007 (UTC).

Weekend editions
[edit]There were lots of errors in the listing of prior anchors. I've done the best I could to correct. Here is a decent place to start for information: http://www.inbaseline.com/project.aspx?project_id=158273 Compson1 (talk) 00:33, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
Sample announcer intros
[edit]The list of minute variations of wording appearing in NBC Nightly News' "sample announcer intros" strikes me as trivial, sort of approaching the level of cataloging all the different colors of ties worn by anchors, so I think it sort of detracts from the quality of the article. To whom might this section be useful or important and why? AtticusX (talk) 23:37, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
Alternative, Renewable, Electrical Power Plants No Byproducts Omitted
[edit]27 July 2011. I am MR James Edward Dal Cerro I have two Projects to create all the electrical energy we ever need. No fossil Fuel Burned, No Nuclear use, No Geothermal, No Wind Generation, No Gas, Oil, Chemicals, Omitted in any way shape or form. No hazards to human life in any way shape or form. No pollutions. I can build in any solid land, for the one project is land built, the second project is in the water. These two devices run in any weather 24 hours, seven days, 365 days an year with out any supplies for fueling it to create electrical energy. I tested the the land one for forty years it ran an small farm no byproducts, no fossil fuels needed to do so. I will patent these in an whole form, and if America does not want these projects for electrical energy, I will sell it to the highest bidder in the world. i have been told not in this country you don't, and I am tired of hearing this under handed lie about electrical energy. Soon I show the whole world if some of the threats that have been handed me, it will go on line, on market wire news, in manuels, and of course on any cable net work. If this threat tries to stop me, my friends that have the capabilities to do so this will be the concenquences of the knowage of the building of all the projects too all the world. Now one more threat, to stop these projects for electrical energy, and this will be the release of all the power plants plans to the world. I had it with these people saying not in this country you don't. Well here I come, and when the people see how electrical energy is created, harvested, generated with the use of your fossils fuels, lets see who has been the wrongfully corruptions of this great country, and world. Look at all the coal pollution that lays on the ground to this day, and where does this go, in our water?, in our streams?, in our atmosphere?, in our bodies? Now you have made me real angery. Lets see who will be running this country the right way, and I hope when people find out who has tried to stop me, God help them. Natalie Morales
[edit]Until there is a reliable source that says Natalie Morales is the interim anchor of the weekend newscasts, don't put her there. I have yet to see a source stating that she is taking over weekends during this time. Corkythehornetfan | Chat? 15:30, 11 February 2015 (UTC)
Introduction, Paragraph 2
[edit]In the introduction, the second paragraph is confusing to me. It tells you a time, but not in what Time Zone. Also, the second sentence seems mixed up. Does anyone else notice this? Buscus 3 (talk) 23:59, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
- It says from 6:30-7:00 pm Eastern. Eastern is the time zone, and is linked to the Eastern Time Zone article. It doesn't seem confusing to me... CorkythehornetfanTalk 03:49, 9 June 2014 (UTC)
- The program is broadcast live over most NBC stations from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time seven days a week. I know this is true in the Eastern and Central time zones, but don't the Mountain and Pacific stations carry it on tape delay unless there's breaking news by the time it normally airs in their areas? I'm just wondering if Eastern plus Central, but not Mountain and Pacific, can be said to be "most" NBC stations. Maybe there should be a little more geographical specificity? 67.197.243.87 (talk) 21:23, 11 February 2015 (UTC)
Brian Williams' name just got cut from 'NBC Nightly News'

Brian Williams has been suspended, and the "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams" is now officially just the "NBC Nightly News."

Thanks,

- This inclusion/edit war of the phrase "with Brian Williams" is silly. This show has always been basically "NBC Nightly News" since 1970, regardless of the current weeknight anchor or weekend editions. Zzyzx11 (talk) 19:09, 8 March 2015 (UTC)
- @Wowee Zowee public: I'm also puzzled how Brian Williams makes this "not the same show".[1] How does Williams make the show different than say, for example, when David Brinkley, John Chancellor or Tom Brokaw was the anchor? This is not The Tonight Show where you had different hosts bringing a whole set of comedy routines, which required that main article to be split into separate The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, etc. articles. The gist of the duties of a news anchor or reader, and really the basic format of a news program, has not really changed. And all content regarding the NBC Nightly News is on this one single article. There is no separate NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams page -- that is currently a redirect back here. So could you please explain how Brian Williams' presence makes the show significantly "different" than when Brinkley, Chancellor and Brokaw were there? Otherwise, your edits and reasoning does not make sense, and in some ways artificially raises Williams' significance over those previous anchors. Zzyzx11 (talk) 19:55, 8 March 2015 (UTC)

Interim weekend anchors
[edit]Is there an official source that Peter Alexander and Carl Quintanilla have been named interim anchors of the weekend editions while Holt is doing weeknights, or for the dates of the weekends that Holt anchored after Williams' suspension? I know what people have seen on TV, but that's not necessarily an official source. 67.197.243.87 (talk) 09:47, 27 April 2015 (UTC)
- I also would like to know if there has been an official announcement that there are permanent interim anchors. Otherwise, any addition should be considered as unsourced. Zzyzx11 (talk) 10:29, 23 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Zzyzx11: Why don't we just remove him like I had in this edit until a source can be provided. Like I said in the edit summary: "right now, the weekend anchors vary; Alexander isn't the permanent interim Sunday anchor during William's suspension." Corkythehornetfan 14:00, 31 May 2015 (UTC)
- If you want to go ahead and remove it, feel free to do that. Wikipedia:Citation needed is the other option since that IP has been persistent. Zzyzx11 (talk) 14:02, 31 May 2015 (UTC)
- Ah, you right... they have been persistent. I'll just keep it as is for now. Corkythehornetfan 14:07, 31 May 2015 (UTC)

Weekend editions
[edit]Until there is a reliable source that states that Peter Alexander is the official replacement of Lester Holt on the weekends, do not add him. This is unsourced, and I will be glad to revert it. Right now it has varied between him, Carl Quintanilla, Kate Snow, Savannah Guthrie, and I'm sure others. Thanks. Corkythehornetfan 23:06, 19 June 2015 (UTC)

Jose Diaz-Balart
[edit]An 75.131.45.14 keeps adding Jose Diaz-Balart as the Saturday anchor. He is STILL one of several rotating anchors. NBC News has yet to confirm a permanent anchor for Saturday (if they ever do). I have warned the IP several times and have now asked for page protection. 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 05:41, 22 December 2015 (UTC)
- The IP has been blocked, for 72 hours this time, so hopefully this will help. If the edit warring continues after the block is up, be sure to drop a note on the blocking administrator's talk page. Etamni | ✉ | ✓ 04:57, 26 December 2015 (UTC)

- I added a cite. The Saturday anchors are definitely rotating as of 19 November. Feel free to provide a more recent source to confirm this. I am keeping an eye on this page, and on Jose's article where I added the same cite and removed the claim of sole anchorship. BethNaught (talk) 15:35, 26 December 2015 (UTC)
