- More of a comment than a review, but wouldn't hooks about there having been NBA-ABA All-Star Games at all, or how the games were done against the wishes of the owners in the league and they were actually organized by the players, would be more interesting hooks? - @Narutolovehinata5: I'm fine if you want to formally propose alternatives. Generally, I think the arbitration block can be interesting to basketball fans and non-fans, and obscure enough to invite a click. My others thoughts:
...wouldn't hooks about there having been NBA-ABA All-Star Games at all
Any hook that mentions the games inherently hints that the games actually happened....or how the games were done against the wishes of the owners in the league and they were actually organized by the players...
That nuance might not be that interesting for non-fans. Regards.—Bagumba (talk) 04:41, 7 August 2023 (UTC)

- I guess this wording works?
- ALT1
... that NBA and ABA players organized two all-star games between themselves, against the wishes of the owners of the leagues' teams?
- ALT1
- The awkward is admittedly a bit clunky but I hope you get the idea. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 06:56, 8 August 2023 (UTC)

- Marking for review and comments on hook options.—Bagumba (talk) 09:13, 8 August 2023 (UTC)
- Bagumba, if you prefer the first kind of hook could it be reworded to something like "... that NBA owners blocked a third NBA–ABA all-star game between the rival basketball leagues?" or something along those lines? The case is interesting but making the case the subject of the sentence seemed awkward to me.Rjjiii (talk) 04:34, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Rjjiii: Here is a modified alternative based on your suggestion:
- ALT2 ... that NBA owners won a binding arbitration that blocked a third NBA–ABA all-star game between the rival basketball leagues?
- Regards.—Bagumba (talk) 06:29, 15 August 2023 (UTC)

Overall: I so often forget Larry Brown coached in the ABA.
I like ALT2. ALT1 is also hooky, but if you think it could mislead then ALT2 is my preference. Rjjiii (talk) 06:06, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Narutolovehinata5 and Rjjiii: I'm striking ALT1, as at least by the second game, there was support by the ABA:
The ABA All-Stars, whose owners and Commissioner Jack Doiph had endorsed the game...
