I can't agree that these should merge. N3 replaced (or will shortly) NHSNet, is a different service model and a different contract.

N3 and NHSNet are quite different entities. The articles should no more be merged than should be pediatrics and cardiac surgery. Smerus 16:57, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I will have to rely on the judgement of both of you that the two are completely different, as I have no knowledge of this subject. However from what the articles currently say, they are both NHS intranet systems and one is being replaced by the other. In terms of readability for the general Wikipedia visitor, I think it would be better to have the two in one article. We could then explain what both of them are and identify the differences. I strongly feel that the two are seperate. I also feel that the last section about sharing a code of connection is a blatant advert from the companies mentioned. I would not condone it. signed An N3 employee.

I agree; ISO and ITIL status of the supplier is irrelevant Pimdip (talk) 21:39, 29 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Article reads like an advertisement

[edit]

I'm an NHS employee reading this for information only, but the article certainly seems to be verging on promotional material, and very short on referenced or substantiated encyclopaedic content such as WHO says it is secure, HOW it is secured, HOW fast etc. Marcus baw (talk) 22:03, 18 April 2011 (UTC)marcus_baw 23:06 18 April 2011[reply]

Merge N3 with NHSNet

[edit]

This seems to have been proposed back in 2006 (discussed above under "Untitled"), and the decision back then was not to merge, largely because both projects were still active. Now that the dust has settled and NHSnet is history, perhaps it is now reasonable to merge. Having them combined will aid with the interpretation of NHSnet and help with understanding the development of N3. Klbrain (talk) 11:01, 8 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The request to merge this page with NHSnet has been open for an astonishing 12 years. NHSnet refers to the older network used by the NHS, N3 refers to the current network and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_and_Social_Care_Network is the new network that is in the adoption/changeover phase currently. I recommend that all the content from NHSnet and N3 be moved into the HSCN page as a History section and the old NHSnet and N3 pages be converted into redirects. It's been a long time since I edited wiki and I'm not sure I even remember my password but I might kick off the discussion on doing this merger. 87.224.30.70 (talk) 09:49, 5 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Seems like 12 years is long enough; given the change in direction, its a bit bold, but I've gone ahead and merged the other 2 networks to the history section of the new network page. I've kept N3 as still active, but used the template:As of in order to trigger a revision some time next year (at least in theory).   checkY Merger complete.
