Putting the refs

[edit]

Hi, sometimes today I will put the official website and references--125.25.235.62 (talk) 21:46, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, are you from Thailand too? but thanks! You make my day!--118.172.189.233 (talk) 08:40, 31 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

But I will put the refs myself--118.172.189.233 (talk) 12:39, 31 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Edit War

[edit]

(Please note: some of the following discussion was made when the current article was briefly under the title Midnight Radio and Television, having been incorrectly moved. I've now struck and changed a couple of ambiguous references for clarity -- Boing! said Zebedee 13:59, 2 April 2010 (UTC) )[reply]

Please stop the edit war folks, and discuss the problem here - constantly re-reverting each other isn't going to solve the issue. What I see is...

The stuff about "Please provide references first" has no real bearing on the main problem, which is to create the two articles properly and maintain the correct edit history. What I think needs to happen now is...

How does that sound?

Some research

[edit]

Before any edit warring erupts again, I thought I'd do some research. There are many good Google hits for Myanmar channels MRTV-3 and MRTV-4 (both of which the same editor has been usurping to change them into articles claiming the channels are Thai), with both articles being well-referenced. Just a couple...

  • Myanmar Times article from 2007 that covers both channels, saying "MRTV-3 joined the mix in mid 2001 and gives priority to providing national news for a world audience. “The objective of MRTV-3 is to present a genuine and correct image of Myanmar to its target audience in foreign lands,” said U Ye Tun, assistant director of MRTV-3." and "And then there is MRTV-4, a channel jointly operated by MRTV and the Forever Group. It started broadcasting in 2004 and airs programs between 7am and 11pm. Unfortunately, MRTV-4 can only be viewed by people with MMBox satellite receivers...".
  • Forever Group, co-operator of MRTV-4, is a Myanmar company, with its own site
  • Official websites of MRTV-3 and MRTV-4, both on .mm domains and both quite clearly Myanmarese.

I then did some searching to see if I could find any evidence of similarly-named Thai TV channels MRTV-3 and MRTV-4, and I found nothing whatsoever - no mention at all of any such Thai stations. But I did discover that MRTV-3 is broadcast via the Shin Corp Thaicom 3 satellite, which is Thai-owned (Shin Corp is the company founded by Thai ex-PM Thaksin Shinawatra), and it seems likely that MRTV-4 is also. That means that Thai satellite viewers can almost certainly receive the Myanmarese channels too (we only have cable, not satellite, so I can't check personally).

I then did some searching to see what I could find relating to Midnight Radio and Television, and I found no reliable evidence that such an entity exists - only one blog. So I have to conclude that Midnight Radio and Television very probably doesn't exist, and that Thai TV channels called MRTV-3 and MRTV-4 almost certainly don't.

Maybe what we have here is a Thai editor who thinks these are Thai TV stations, simply because they are available on Thai satellite TV (and who knows - there might even be dubbed versions broadcast, and perhaps the Myanmar channels also carry some Thai TV programs)?

I think all this supports my suggestion (which I have repeated to him a number of times) that our Thai IP friend should edit only his new Midnight Radio and Television article and try to source it properly, and should absolutely not edit any of the other related articles unless and until he can do that, get it past a new article review, and provide reliable evidence for the existence of Midnight Radio and Television. -- Boing! said Zebedee 16:49, 31 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I found one more, but it is just the name but it doesn't say it's Myanmar or Thailand or what.--118.172.189.233 (talk) 17:07, 31 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That's one is gone already, maybe I have to search again--118.172.189.233 (talk) 17:09, 31 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's better to stop this problem for a while, and I don't need to check it again until tomorrow--118.172.189.233 (talk) 17:09, 31 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • Maybe I can help, I have a CAMBODIA satellite, but I don't see any Cambodian TVs and MRTV is in first order, and it follows with many channels but it's encrypted, and 11 is NBN-1, 12 is NBN-2, 13 is NBN-3 and I know that people call it "Chong Sam" (ช่องสาม), and 14-20 I can't remember, and MRTV IS IN THAI!! But I don't know so much since before I got a satellite I can't watch it.--125.25.249.6 (talk) 16:06, 1 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, thanks, but Wikipedia cannot use individual personal observations - whatever you might personally see, we can't use it unless there is actual documentation from reliable third-party sources to support it. Please see WP:RS for what counts as reliable references for Wikipedia. -- Boing! said Zebedee 19:08, 1 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. I don't think it needs it yet, as the only current activity is here on this Talk page, where it isn't doing any harm. As long as the article pages themselves are not being edited, we're fine - I have all the relevant pages watched, and they haven't been changed for about a day now (and 118.172.189.233 hasn't edited anything outside of Talk space in nearly 2 days). I think the most appropriate action is just to keep watching those pages, and only request admin assistance if they are subjected to further incorrect editing. I think the Midnight Radio and Television article can be given another day or so's grace as per the {{Under construction}} tag to see if the author can come up with any sources, and then taken to WP:AFD if he can't - he'll have at least a further 7 days anyway, once AFD starts. -- Boing! said Zebedee 15:09, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Launched

First channel?

[edit]

That website isn't made in Burma, and MTV is only in Burma, (MTV doesn't buy frequencies of any satellites) so foreigners may think it is first--125.25.26.25 (talk) 14:56, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The first ever TV service in Burma was launched in 1981. See the citation. The first ever test TV service was in 1979--not 1969 as you've been saying. I know because I lived through the period (1979-1981) when everyone in the neighbourhood went to watch TV at the local community center. Besides, you need to provide citation. My citation already says it was 1981. Hybernator (talk) 15:04, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
There's no MTV in the citations, because internet in Burma is illegal.--125.25.26.25 (talk) 15:06, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The Internet is illegal in Burma? Your ignorance is incredible. I'm speechless. Anyway, you need to provide proper citations.Hybernator (talk) 15:12, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The Internet is illegal? That's nonsense, I'm afraid - Yangon even has legally licensed internet cafes. The government does close down access during crises, access is restricted, and the bandwidth available is very poor, but it's certainly not illegal. -- Boing! said Zebedee 16:20, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

MRTV-3 and MRTV-4

[edit]

MRTV have 2 websites, www.mrtv3.net.mm and www.mrtv4.net.mm

MRTV4 is more complete, but MRTV3 have only news. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.25.26.25 (talk) 15:04, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Some facts from MRTV that I know

[edit]
  1. I don't know the launch date. But MTV launched before.
  2. Only few knows of MTV, because it doesn't go on satellite. But confirmed by many internet users.
  3. I don't know if MRTV exist in Thailand or not.
  4. People usually confused MRTV with MTV.
  5. MRTV's logo is in yellow, not white.
  6. MRTV's audio is very low.
  7. MRTV opens in the morning and close in the afternoon
  8. That's all I know.--125.25.26.25 (talk) 15:12, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
As we keep asking you, can you provide any evidence from reliable sources (see WP:RS) to back up anything of what you say? (I'm not accusing you of being untruthful, it's just that personal anecdote/experience cannot be used as a source of information for a Wikipedia article). -- Boing! said Zebedee 16:13, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thailand or Myanmar -- I will help

[edit]

As he don't have satellite, I have 2 satellites.

Downstairs is CAMBODIA and upstairs is Thaicom 2/5 C band.

  • Downstairs - I have MRTV but not MRTV-3 or MRTV-4. But I don't know what country. MRTV is in first order.
  • Updtairs - I have MRTV in number 59, MRTV3 in number 60, MRTV4 in number 61. I don't know why I can't watch it. I think that's Myanmar.
  • My trip (Long time ago) - I was going in a trip and in hotel have satellite. It have Burma MRTV. and I remember that MRTV doesn't close at 1pm (Burma time) because I check in at 4pm (Thailand time) and . But it was Sunday night to Monday morning. And I remember it stays very late. I sleep and I wake up again at 2am (Thailand time) and MRTV closed already, and there is no MRTV3 or MRTV4. but on Monday at 1pm or 2pm it's closed already.--125.25.41.162 (talk) 16:29, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Update:that trip is still in Thailand.--125.25.41.162 (talk) 16:30, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I want to go to Burma and see MTV--125.25.41.162 (talk) 16:30, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. A few comments...
  1. It's kind of you to try to help, but your personal report on what you can see via different satellite services and what you remember is really of very little use, because personal observations are not eligible for Wikipedia sourcing purposes. As has been explained a number of times here and on other Talk pages, if you can provide citations according to WP:RS then you can add material, and if you can't then you can't - it really is as simple as that.
  2. We have good reliable sources to verify the existence of the Myanmar MRTV channels, so that really isn't in doubt and we are not going to change the articles unless some documentary proof can be found that the sources are unreliable.
  3. If there really is more than one person posting from those TOT IP ranges in Bangkok (all in a very similar style), then I'd strongly suggest that you register a username (you can be completely anonymous - you don't even have to register an email address if you don't want), and then we can tell who is who.

Hi!
Thank you. But I don't know that Internet in Burma is illegal or not as he said it is. But I don't think it is. Because I've met Burmese people in the internet. But North Korea internet is illegal. Only Kim Jong-il have the internet.
My CAMBODIA satellite have MRTV, but it's quiet all the time. And MRTV-3 and it merges with MTV International but I'm not sure that it's Thai or Burmese one. So I check out Wikipedia and see its talkpage and I see that someone makes edit-war.--125.25.41.162 (talk) 22:59, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

MTV or MRTV

[edit]

Sometimes it's MTV and sometimes is MRTV, i don't know what is correct?

And my CAMBODIA satellite have MRTV but I think it's Burmese.

Both I and him have the 125.25.x.x so to stop from confusing, He must go and live on Mars 4ever--125.25.20.55 (talk) 11:50, 15 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Let's see if MRTV is a Thai or Burmese or Cambodian TV

[edit]

I would like to help my friend on doing this.

Ok, let's start from the table of the CAMBODIA satellite, so sad it's not on the internet, I've looked it again, the table wrote that MRTV, MRTV-3, MRTV-4 are Burmese TV channels.

I'm still thinking if it's a Thai or Burmese station, as the headquarters of CAMBODIA satellite is in Cambodia (the name is self-explanitory) but we bought it in Thailand, so it is possible to have the Thai channels first. Or it is maybe choose randomly, so it is Burmese. These are some evidences of Burmese:

  • At 9:30-11:30 Thailand time it broadcasts MTV International.
  • Sometimes I found Burmese characters, but I also found Khmer.
  • It looks like a Burmese station by its programs.

And evidences of Thai and Khmer:

  • We bought the satellite in Thailand. But headquarter of the satellite, the salesperson, the company are in Cambodia.
  • I have heard Thai programs, I'm not sure if there are Khmer programs or not.--125.25.241.142 (talk) 10:56, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I see a Myanmar program which I've found long time ago which I sure that it is Myanmar. And I found same TestCard (colorbars). And I heard a Burmese song in this station.--125.25.80.122 (talk) 03:33, 18 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

MTV in Burma exist or not? I don't know! Its maybe from Mars???--125.25.80.122 (talk) 03:34, 18 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hoax

[edit]

It's not a hoax, but I have really watched Midnight Radio and Television.

I have asked everyone I know about it but they don't know, and I see that it is a test station of Thailand. Some facts from my investigation.

  • There are 2 stations:MRTV1 and MRTV2
  • Between 11pm and 7am of MRTV1, which is closing, it is the stream from LAX airport and Angkor Wat (switch between these every 15 minutes), but between 10pm and 9am of MRTV2, which is closing, it is the broadcast from MRTV1 for 10-11pm and 7-9am, but between 11pm and 7am is the stream from Angkor Wat. ONLY Angkor Wat.
  • On national holidays, it opens at 5am and close at 0mn (midnight). But for MRTV2 opens at 6am and close at 11pm.
  • In April-June during the swine flu pandemic, it broadcasts the current cases and deaths of swine flu from around the world.
  • In 2010 Haiti earthquake opens at 10am and close at 8pm. For MRTV2 opens at 4pm and close at 7-8pm. And there was no streams at night (Only colorbars testcard with beep)
  • It is launched in 1983 for radio and 1988 for television.
  • It doesn't go on satellites or cable.
  • There are only few anchors.
  • By everyone I know, only me can watch it.--118.172.41.49 (talk) 16:26, 18 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Unless you can provide reliable references as per WP:RS and show notability as per WP:N, which it seems you cannot, you cannot add any of that to Wikipedia -- Boing! said Zebedee 16:29, 18 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Good Bye Wikipedia

[edit]

Yesterday (Monday) at noon I've asked neighbours and they all can receive Thai MRTV, and I see already that it is local station - Because the owner of that personal blog lives in the same village as me (I just know. Because he says like "Wow you've read my blog or something?" or something like that.) and later I have found the sender (which I assume that it is illegal sender) of MRTV. I have asked him to change the station name to some others like MNRT (MidNight Radio Television) but I am still watching it until it changes. I hope I don't need to tell you that it is changed. As no one outside my village have it.

MTV vs MRTV

[edit]

Hi i'm American and so far I know is MTV is broadcast in southern part of Myanmar and MRTV in northern part and usually sync togheter, in 90's news program was the central and it goes on every channel (at that time the whole country have only 2.) But later in 2000 MTV and MRTV go broadcast countrywide so it becomes another choice for TV.--125.25.14.95 (talk) 17:58, 3 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
