Article unclear, written like an American sex ed class
[edit]As it stands, the lede jumps immediately from describing what mutual monogamy is to talking about how well it can be used to prevent STIs. While this is true, it seems like a strange way to open the article. In fact, the article almost exclusively talks about how well mutual monogamy prevents STDs, despite i
It also describes how mutual monogamy differs from "serial monogamy which is a current monogamous relationship that has not been established in the past and may not continue into the future" which, to be quite honest, doesn't make any sense to me. Does it mean someone having never had sex with anyone else and planning to never have sex with anyone else (even, for example, in the event of a breakup)? Does it mean that the relationship might be monogamous at some points but not at others? Or is 'serial monogamy' when a person is, over the course of some period of time, in multiple different non-overlapping monogamous relationships? In the first case, it's unclear and should be covered in the lede, but the article title ("Mutual Monogamy") suggests something more general. In the second and third cases, I have to ask why those are distinct from mutual monogamy (if people are monogamous for a time before they enter an open relationship, why isn't their earlier state mutually monogamous?)
The definition also seems to suggest mutual monogamy as either a subset of- or equivalent to- serial monogamy, and yet the article attempts to draw a contrast between them.
The article is confusing and seems to be trying to persuade people to be mutually monogamous (rather than merely explaining the topic) by giving undue weight to discussions of how it avoids STIs while giving inconsistent explanations of what it's about. Honestly, it should probably be rewritten entirely or deleted. Hppavilion1 (talk) 23:07, 17 April 2018 (UTC)
Whats the difference between this and monogamy in general?
[edit]Isn't what is described here just Monogamy in general? Shouldn't it just be a part of the Monogamy page?Mangokeylime (talk) 00:03, 23 May 2020 (UTC)
