This has been here for a while. I will review over the next few days. REDMAN 2019 (talk) 11:09, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

General

[edit]

Rural traditional music and dance

[edit]

References

[edit]
  • Ref 2 needs date, publisher and website.
  • Ref 3 should be formatted in accordance with WP:CITEWEB.
  • Ref 6 needs author.
  • Ref 8 is just a note. I doesn't cite any website. Leaving the sentence basically unsourced.

I haven't been able to be on Wikipedia much over the last week and I may not be able to complete the review within the next 5 days. Here is what I have so far. If yo would like the review to be able to be completed sooner by someone else I fully understand and will ask to see if anyone is able to take over. REDMAN 2019 (talk) 17:53, 21 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello and thanks for your first remarks, - I have taken care of your comments and some others as well, adding a section for Notes, where I could incorporate remarks as well. - As you already have started to get familiar with this long article, I would suggest we wait, until we both will have finished the GA process. - If for any other reason you want to hand over to another person willing to finish this, that would be alright for me, too. Rural traditional music and dance

[edit]

The role of women in traditional music

[edit]
  • I'm assuming the quote is from the book mentioned above. If so then it should be referenced there.
Didn't quite understand where you mean it to be referenced, but I did change the ref to the last sentence before the quote. (The quote carries the name of the book and page, so I hope that should be clear.
That should be fine.

Zikr rituals as religious forms of recitation and performance

[edit]
[edit]
  • I would remove the red-links. Especially as other people such as "Wad El Faki" aren't linked in that way.
  • Link Greater Khartoum to Khartoum (state)
[edit]
  • Ref 24 has a Arabic title and links to a page which I can't make head or tail of. Can a clearer source be found?
Changed the name of the reference for this website from Arabic to English. BTW, it does mention the name and more information in English in the page itself.
  • The website used for ref 25 seems user generated and possibly biased in it's description of him. Could a alternative be found?
Deleted, and replaced by a better source. (Encyclopedic article from the Rough Guide to World Music)
  • Again the random red-link should probably be removed.
  • "Radio Omdurman" should be linked at it's first use, which is in the previous section.
  • The third paragraph needs referencing.
New ref to the encyclopedic article from the Rough Guide to World Music)
  • Publishing date needed for ref 27.
I added all publishing dates I could find, but there was an occasional webpage without date.

Here is the first half of the full review. I am sorry for how long it's taken me. Should be able to do the rest soon. REDMAN 2019 (talk) 12:55, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again, I went through all your helpful comments and changed whatever you indicated. Looking forward to the rest... Thanks again, Munfarid1 (talk) 17:00, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Problems with formatting recurrent references

[edit]

Even after carefully reading and several attempts to solve this, I have not managed to enter the recurrent references to Verney 2006 with the corresponding page numbers. I entered this to the source text, but the page numbers don't show up in the saved version. [1] - Can you help solve this mystery? Munfarid1 (talk) 09:31, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Use the {{Sfn}} template and create a "Bibliography" section after "References". See refs 7 to 9 at Steven Gerrard for example. Cheers! REDMAN 2019 (talk) 11:52, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hello again, after long working sessions of studying the different templates and formats, I have checked and amended all references, including a section called 'Works cited' and inserting short references to these two main sources. (Albeit not with the template, but in the simpler way of a basic reference.) - I hope, now all is fine and am looking forward to your next remarks, and hopefully a nomination for GA. Final review

[edit]
[edit]
  • Link Electric guitar.
  • Ref 42 is giving me Error 404.
  • There seems to be a problem with the formatting of ref 34.
[edit]
  • Ref 53 should be moved to the end of the sentence it's referencing.

The 2000s and up to the present

[edit]

Reggae, hip hop and rap

[edit]
  • Reggae should be linked at the first mention.

Urban contemporary music of the 21st century

[edit]
  • 100,000 clicks on YouTube alone > 100,000 views on YouTube alone.
  • Link Beirut.
  • After the band split up > Since the band split up.
  • Ref 76 should cite YouTube as the source website.

After this I think we should be done here. REDMAN 2019 (talk) 11:18, 2 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

All taken care of. Thanks again for your precise eye and helpful comments. Munfarid1 (talk) 13:07, 2 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. Happy to pass this now. REDMAN 2019 (talk) 18:34, 2 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
