Death of Mohammad Anwar → Murder of Mohammad Anwar – This is mostly procedural as IPs keep changing the lead to say "murder of..." and I am unfamiliar with precedent here. Should it be moved? My inclination is to say no, but I defer to the experts. Etzedek24 (I'll talk at ya) (Check my track record) 19:16, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
- Sounds like murder to me. Do we need official verdicts to call it such? What are the sources calling it? --Deepfriedokra (talk) 20:07, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
- Deepfriedokra, The sources are noting that the girls were charged with murder, but don't say that Anwar was murdered. Just that he died as a result of the carjacking. Etzedek24 (I'll talk at ya) (Check my track record) 20:10, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
- Move to Killing of Mohammad Anwar. As per similar RMs, nobody has been convicted of murder here, so it shouldn't be part of the article title. This event meets the definition of a homicide, not an accidental death: "A homicide requires only a volitional act by another person that results in death, and thus a homicide may result from accidental, reckless, or negligent acts even if there is no intent to cause harm". Per WP:DEATHS, "Killing of Mohammad Anwar" is most accurate.162.208.168.92 (talk) 20:29, 2 April 2021
- Support per Deepfried, it is murder whether they are found guilty or not, many people have been found not guilty of murder but it doesn't mean it wasn't murder. He would not have died had these girls not tried to hijack him. (Like Etzedek24, I am also not over familiar with this type of thing, but this is my opinion!!) Tommi1986 let's talk! 20:46, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
- Move to Killing of Mohammad Anwar per WP:DEATHS. StAnselm (talk) 21:57, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
- Support moving to "Murder" per the nominee. Juno (talk) 04:35, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
- Juno, Please note that as the nominee I did not actually think it should be changed to "Murder". Based on the policy offered above (WP:DEATHS), I believe at this time that "Killing" is the appropriate target. Etzedek24 (I'll talk at ya) (Check my track record) 04:47, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose. Looks more like manslaughter at the moment rather than murder; revisit again if they are actually convicted of murder. -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:29, 12 April 2021 (UTC)
To add to article
[edit]To add to this article: a wikilink for the word "carjacking." Why the heck is editing for this page disabled? 173.88.246.138 (talk) 05:37, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
- Done. I have linked it. The page is protected because of anonymous users making edits that violate the guidelines on neutral point of view. Etzedek24 (I'll talk at ya) (Check my track record) 15:33, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
Other basic information to add to this article: the fact that, after Anwar was thrown from the car and killed, one of the girls was concerned that she had left her mobile phone in the car, but not concerned about Anwar. 173.88.246.138 (talk) 05:39, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
- Not done. Doesn't adhere to NPOV as cited above. Etzedek24 (I'll talk at ya) (Check my track record) 15:33, 11 April 2021 (UTC)

Change "Asian-American" to "Pakistani-American". The word Asian, as commonly used in the United States and other English speaking countries, is inappropriate. 96.243.51.222 (talk) 00:57, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
- Not done: Pakistanis are South Asian, thus by extension, Asian. Etzedek24 (I'll talk at ya) (Check my track record) 01:21, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
Race of suspects?
[edit]I think "the suspects were both young girls" should be changed to something like "the subjects were both African American girls". The article should mention that they are African American. While I understand why people would not want to, it has become a key part of the story with current race relations in America. I went to this page to find out the race of the perpetrators and had to go to another source to find it out. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ClaybourneAmans (talk • contribs) 21:51, 6 May 2021 (UTC)
Someone start a RM please?
[edit]One of the perpetrators has pleaded guilty to murder. This article should be retitled to "Killing of Mohammad Anwar". Here's your source: [1]. See WP:MURDERS and WP:NCE. 69.174.144.79 (talk) 01:56, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
- Per WP:DEATHS the RM should not be started until a conviction is levied. Etzedek24 (I'll talk at ya) (Check my track record) 02:16, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
- Silly distinction without any real substance but whatever. Someone confesses to being a murderer in open court as part of pleading guilty, but that's not good enough. It never fails to amaze me how incoherent Wikipedia practices are when it comes to anything legal. 69.174.144.79 (talk) 17:26, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
- It's policy. Like it or lump it. Etzedek24 (I'll talk at ya) (Check my track record) 20:56, 17 May 2021 (UTC)

Discussion of inter-racial violence and media criticism should be in response section.
[edit]The lack of media attention to the killing of Anwar sparked significant backlash amongst Asian Americans and conservatives, who accused media outlets of downplaying the incident and withholding information about the suspects because they were black, contrasting the media coverage to incidents where Asian Americans were victimized by white assailants.[1][2]
This topic was significant enough to result in multiple op-eds and similar to the section in the Atlanta spa shootings article, the greater media conversations about anti-Asian violence and media coverage should be included. Shadybabs (talk) 01:23, 28 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Bbb23, can you give specific objections as for why this content should be excluded? Shadybabs (talk) 01:40, 28 February 2023 (UTC)
