COI

[edit]

This article seems to have been created by research group's PR firm. I'm a newbie so I don't know what's to be done about that. Please let me know... --Mmacmu1 (talk) 02:54, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Weasel Words

[edit]

This article, while well written for any other forum, needs some work. Unless anyone has any objections, I'd like to do a bit of an overhaul of the prose. There are plenty of references out there to use and cite so I don't see it being a big issue. Some things will be lost though unless I can find a good ref for the claims ("With a mother’s urgency to live long enough for her toddler to remember her, Kathy was driven.." for instance). Any comments or suggestions? OlYellerTalktome 18:10, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Groopman's New Yorker article is a good, objective account that includes some of the controversy and critics, and all of the substantive facts. It would be good to rewrite this entry based on the New Yorker article. --Nbauman (talk) 01:31, 16 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Most of the florid prose was added in this edit. The original wording was apparently sourced to the NYT story, and you can go back to that one paragraph at a time. --Nbauman (talk) 17:34, 16 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again. This is Aimee Swartz. I updated this entry to address noted mention of "florid prose." The edits I had posted are factual, though I see my changes were undone and back to this posting due to copyright concerns. Please see below. Thanks. 71.192.37.228 (talk) 00:44, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Copyvio Issue and COI

[edit]

Recently, a user by the name of Aimeeswartz has made a very large change to the page and one that I find is very closely related to the info found on the MMRF official website save for a few word changes. I have reverted the edit and am asking that other editors come to make a judgment on issue. I would also like to note that Aimeeswartz has claimed (see edit note) that she is a writer for the MMRF. I assume this is true but does not allow her to use the copyrighted material without written permission by the MMRF. I directed her to WP:DCM so that we may bypass this entire issue if possible. Also, I will be placing a COI tag on the article as a confirmed employee of the foundation is editing the article. OlYellerTalktome 20:41, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again. This is Aimee Swartz. Yes, I am a writer for the MMRF and am updating this Wiki page on behalf of the organization. What kind of verification can I provide you to address your copyright concerns? Thanks!P.S. I am not sure how to contact you directly, which is why I am posting this here. 71.192.37.228 (talk) 00:42, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If you can give me until the end of this weekend, I'll look at all the changes you made and essentially make them in my own words so that no one can ever come back and say that there was a conflict of interests or a copyright violation. Thank sound fair? OlYellerTalktome 15:05, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Moved to talk

[edit]
"The work of the MMRF contributed to the FDA approval of four drugs for multiple myeloma in just four years – a track record unparalleled in oncology."

Need a source for this. I toned down this sentence.

"The MMRF is funding research into 30 compounds and combination approaches that may represent the next generation of treatments, as well as supporting the advancement of trials through its research consortium, the Multiple Myeloma Research Consortium (MMRC)."

Cut down sentence with source.
