[edit]I recently came across three different Mulliners in as many days on WP, and I wondered, "So, just how many Mulliners are there?" Lots, it seems. Thus, this post.
It's possible that this disambiguation page, currently named Mulliner, may have started life as an ordinary article and has since been tagged as a disambig page. Whatever, I'm fairly sure that the one of the specific purposes of a disambig page (I have edited many for alpha sorting, and created a few) is to guide users to existing articles, rather than act as a potted history of an extended family business, however interesting it may be.
I can see that the complexity of the inter-related Mulliner businesses and their owners needs careful clarification: but in the 'People' section, only three of the nine entries relating to the coach builders actually link to useful related articles. In particular, lines like this:
- Mulliner Northampton, including Leamington Priors (c. 1760–1940)
are essentially useless in a disambig page, since they don't point to any useful relevant information at all.
I'm equally fairly sure (without bothering to look up the particular WP:Guideline, rule, essay etc.) that red links are discouraged: unless there is a suitable amount of research just ready and waiting to be written into articles about (e.g.) Mulliner Chiswick, there is a probably a reason to remove these lines with red links.
As an alternative, I would like to suggest that most of the info about the coachbuilding family on this page could be incorporated into a relatively simple article with Wikilinks, e.g. Mulliner family (coachbuilders), leaving this disambig page to provide blue links to already-existing articles. I would attempt to do it myself, but reasons. MinorProphet (talk) 02:05, 7 March 2017 (UTC)
