it's not very English, now, is it?

Neither Mukunda nor Krishna is a distinctively English word. I infer that Mukunda is both the name of the film's lead character and a name of the god Krsna; has the latter meaning any relevance here? When the movie was released in English-speaking countries, was the lead character's name dubbed or subtitled as Krishna?
