[edit]Sultan Jamalul Alam-II was consulted by Sulu Sultan Moh. Fadlun-Pulalun in 1915, the selection of Sharif Sultan Imam Ul-Alam Arpa (Grandson of Sayyid Nakhoda Perkasa Angging or Maharaja Anddin, the Brunei Maharaja in the Sulu) to have replaced Sultan Jamalul Kiram-II after the latter signed the 1915 Carpenter Memorandum Agreement giving up his temporal powers to the American administration in exchanged for a lifetime pension). Brunei Sultan Jamalul Alam-II concurred and ratified the selection to Sharif-Sultan Imam Ul-Alam Arpa. However, the U.S. Government Department of Mindanao and Sulu, administering upon the Mindanao and Sulu declined the using of the name “SULTAN” and only recognizes the Sharif as Highest Spiritual Leader, the Americans unknowingly unfamiliar that a Sultan is also such; the highest spiritual leader of the sultanate state, as of the nature of Doctrine of Indivisibility of both Temporal and religious powers. By only recognizing the temporal power in the 1915 Carpenter Memorandum is a head-on collision with that Doctrine of Indivisibility by which Sultanate Islamic states are founded (Tawhid). “Muslims in the Philippines” authored by Dean Cesar Majul. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 112.202.164.102 (talk) 08:34, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
