A source for English language readers?
[edit]I've been trying to figure out a valid ISBN and/or a full citation in English for the following book mentioned in the article:
- The text was written in [[Arabic]] under the title "مؤتمرعلماء بغداد" and has been translated into [[Persian language|Persian]] under the title ''In search of Truth in Baghdad'' (در جستجوی حق در بغداد). It has also appeared under the title "راهي به سوي حقيقت" with ISBN 5-89328-796-4{{Please check ISBN|Calculated check digit (7) doesn't match given.}} as well.<!--cannot locate this book--EdK>
Might it be acceptable to list one of the books visible at this link with a valid ISBN? And then, include Mughatil ibn Bakri's text (ideally an English language edition), with citation, once found? I'll wait a bit for a response here and keep looking. Thanks! Keesiewonder talk 16:25, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

No worries; I'll keep looking around. Keesiewonder talk 20:52, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
- Um - ISBN folks need to skim article talk pages for ISBN activity, IMO. I've retrieved the invalid ISBN from the article's history log and am storing it here for easy viewing since I am still working on this one. I S B N 5-89328-796-4{{Please check ISBN|Calculated check digit (7) doesn't match given.}} Thanks! Keesiewonder talk 11:21, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- Note: The prefix '5' on an ISBN basically means that the publisher was located in the former Soviet Union. Google for '5-89328' and you see a lot of Russian books. The title "اول کودکان" appears to be Farsi. For a book like that we would normally expect an Iranian publisher. The prefix 964 goes with *Iran*. So I vote that we go with the external link provided in the article, which leads to a page at iran-books.com with the number "964-93287-8-5". This is a valid ISBN, and it has the right group identifier (964) for Iran! I wonder if the order of groups in the ISBN got scrambled by the right-to-left writing convention. As corrected, I still don't find this ISBN in any libraries, but this seems like an ISBN worthy of being included in the article. EdJohnston 04:56, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
- I found your number on this page Notice that the URL has the ISBN you mentioned but from right to left. The Special:Booksources page has no source for Iranian or Farsi literature. I agree that "964-93287-8-5" would be good. --Droll 09:04, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
- Excellent! That'll work just fine. Thanks. Keesiewonder talk 10:26, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
